Well we signed a 12 month lease, not easy to secure these days, and got the keys and started the big move. We had planned to get the removalist to move the big stuff, our bed, the three piece leather lounge, and other things. They couldn't fit us in till this afternoon and on Friday we decided to do it ourselves, well I should say "himself". I don't know how my almost 54 year old husband does it, it's like he grows some kind of super human strength. I helped him with the top of our bed ensemble, it's unbelievable heavy, and I could barely manage. Em came home and helped us move it into this place which made it easier. She and I walked over to get some bread rolls and cold meat for lunch, so exciting, it's a short walk to the IGA, and when we got back he was gone. Next thing he turns up with the bloody lounge suite on the trailer! Our three seater comes apart into modules, but the armchairs are big and heavy. When he moved Emily's mattress he realised what we've been telling him for ages, it's stuffed although it's less than four years old and wasn't cheap. Turns out she was hitting the wooden slats on the bed when she lay on it, I felt terrible when she told me that. So a new mattress was in order. We called into our local furniture shop and got an amazingly good deal on a good quality pillow top mattress which was floor stock but spotless.
We called it a day and went up to the pub just a block away to order takeaway Thai for our dinner. While we waited we had a couple of drinks and played the pokies, put in $20 and pulled out $90 so that pretty much paid for dinner.
Today we got down to the house and just put our heads down and cleaned and packed up the rest of the stuff. We got a lot done, we're a good team. He has to work tomorrow so I will take him to Junee then finish the cleaning on my own. We went over to the electrical store this morning and got another really great deal on a dishwasher. It's the brand we wanted, Dishlex, just a basic model but exactly what we wanted. My first dishwasher, which we also bought here, was a great little performer, lasted through the move to WA and back, and we ended up giving it away when we moved into the Thompson Street house as there was a dishwasher there. This house doesn't have one, or even the space for one so we'll have to have it in the laundry, which is big, but we just discovered it won't fit under the bench out there. Poor Phill is so tired from working in the house all day but he's still out there trying to get it all hooked up and having some problems.
We had our first bbq tonight, just burgers, but we had them outside, no surface space vacant inside right now and I'm not doing anything else tonight, I've had it. The kitchen is functioning basically and we all have beds to sleep in and bathrooms set up. Well he got it working. He always does! So the dishwasher is humming away out there in the middle of the laundry. I haven't taken any photos, thought I'd lost my memory card but I just found it in the computer. Duh.
The cats, especially Harley, were very rattled at the goings on at the old house, and didn't like being put in the cat carrier, I think they thought they were going back to the cattery. When we got back here we left them in the carrier while we brought other stuff in from the trailer. They quietened right down as if they were relieved and knew they were home with us. They've settled in really well and love the yard and the bigger house. Max is still at the old house, warm and safe in his hut until we can make this place dogproof.
Well enough for tonight, we're still using the stick for internet.
