Kids go back next Tuesday and Wednesday, the holidays have gone so quickly. I'll be glad to get back into a "normal" routine and not have so much work to do. When they're home all I seem to do is load and unload the dishwasher, make snacks and do clothes washing. I'll miss them though, they are such good company.
I'm worried and nervous for Emily even though she is looking forward to it and is determined to finish her education. She has matured so much in this past year so I hope she can cope with what is to come. Especially with the cuts all over her legs and arms, which are fading slightly but will be obvious in her school skirt and short sleeved blouse. She isn't cutting any more, and hasn't for months but there they are for the world to see. I see people staring at her when we go out, she doesn't seem to care and I try to make myself not care. They don't know us or what we've been through, or how far we've come.
My anger towards Phill has lessened, life is too short. He will be home on Thursday and while I'm still so hurt by what he did, he appears to "get it" and is being very conciliatory. I can't go anywhere for the time being so we'll have to make living together work somehow. I do tend to drama and overreacting (in case you haven't noticed) but I defy any woman to say they wouldn't be hurt by what he did. Anyway, the kids are what is important right now and that is what I am concentrating on.
Josh had his blood test yesterday and I was so proud of him. He's never had one before and he was really good, didn't even flinch. Emily told him she was with her father when he had a blood test once and he grimaced when the needle went in. Josh says he's "outmanned" his father. Love it. He really is growing into a young man, I see the changes in him every day. He is taking his health very seriously, he got dressed and we went for a walk this morning, a bit further than the last, we're aiming to go a bit further every day. He had a healthy breakfast and made a salmon sandwich for lunch and I've just put a reasonably healthy lasagne in the oven for the two of us, will freeze the leftovers, Em is at Sindy's. It's hard to make lasagne healthy but it's laced with lots of vegies and I used low fat cheese and milk.
Katy rang last night, she has her own store now, I'm so proud of her. I really want her to come over for a visit but although she and Em are getting on a bit better thanks to Kate making more of an effort, Emily is still resistant to her visiting. I don't care, this is my house and I want to see my daughter, Emily will just have to suck it up and deal with it.
We have to be in Young at 8.30am on Friday for Josh's ultrasound so that will be good practise for the kids getting up for school. While they're on holidays they stay up late and sleep late. That won't be happening next week.
It's still so hot here, it's 35.6C (95F) at 6.30pm. The cats are really suffering, but the silly things are laying out by the back door where the afternoon sun is coming in and there is no a/c in that room, instead of being in here where it's cooler.
I've been so lazy, and a bit down naturally after everything that has gone on, but tomorrow I really need to get in and do stuff in the house and get everything running smoothly for the new school year. Both of my children are smart and have so much potential, I have to help make them see that hard work this year will pay off for them.
Well male cats must be smarter than females, Scout just wandered in here and flopped down on the rug. I went out and got Violet and brought her in and she flopped down beside him. Harley is still lying in the bloody sun out in the dining room.

Good to read that things have settled a bit - you sure need a year without drama and I hope that happens for you.. hope Josh's tests turn out okay and that Em does really enjoy school - shoudl treat yourself the day they go back and have a do nothing pool day
