That's the view from where I'm sitting right now on the back porch. Yesterday we were trying to figure out the filtration system on the pool and the kids went for a swim. I wasn't so brave, I just sat and dangled my feet in but today they talked me into going in with them. It was just after midday but the water was so cold, I've had a hot shower and am in clean flannel pjs but I'm still cold! It was nice though. The sun feels so good after what has seemed like the longest Winter I've ever known.
We are hoping so much that we will get to stay here for the Summer, at least until January and the longer time goes on the better it's looking. They have to give us three weeks' notice while we're on a lease, which is up next month, but after that they have to give us three months. That will take us into January. Nobody has been through the place for a couple of weeks and even if someone decides to buy it in the next couple, it takes time for building and pest inspections etc so I think we're pretty safe. Nobody in their right mind would pay what they are asking for this place anyway.
I had to come back inside, the wind blew up out there, I don't know how the kids are staying in as long as they are. They got in the spa, which is marginally warmer, only because it's shallower. Why anyone would put in a spa and not heat it is beyond me.
Okay I'm in bed now and slowly starting to thaw out. I am glad I got in the water though, I was able to stir up the dirt that has settled over the Winter and we put the filter on and will leave it on till dark to try and clean it all. We can't figure out how to use the vacuum thingy on it, and we need to put some more chemicals in but once we do we're good to go.
I ran out of puff earlier......the kids got in the pool AGAIN late this afternoon but boy they were cold when they got out. I made myself a really nice early dinner of spaghetti with Danish butter, fresh garlic and parmigiana reggiano, so simple but so delicious. Kids had pizza. They'll sleep well tonight. And so will I until Phill gets home at least, but I have to say the RipSnore mouth device is working amazingly well to stop his snoring. I am having trouble with the same old things, arthritis in my hands, no longer in my knees and I give credit to the magnetic wool underlay we sleep on for that, as well as the menopause crap, night sweats etc. But today I was just happy to be alive, to be out in the sunshine with my kids and having fun. Also some wonderful women I am getting to know on Facebook thanks to my friend Natalie. Finally some MEANINGFUL interactions on that site!
Em just came out and even after a shower and being in bed she is still cold. I told her it was good for the metabolism. She retreated with a hot Milo, a pair of my bed socks, a soft blanket and the heater up high. Still said it won't stop her from getting in the pool tomorrow. My kids all take after me, water babies. I LOVE the water. As a child I couldn't get near it without getting in it. When we moved to the coast when I was about 13, I would live on the beach all Summer and when my mum said I couldn't swim in the sea in the Winter I would accidentally "fall" in, fully clothed in my school uniform. I can remember Mum coming to call me out of the surf for dinner many, many times. I think I was a seal in one of my former lives. I have such an affinity with them. Well enough of that, I'm off to watch Big Brother and then beddy byes for me.
