The gloom has gone, for now at least. It's a beautiful sunny morning THANK YOU WEATHER GODDESS!
On Sunday night I reminded Josh he had to have a shower before he went to bed and that I'd put some clean pjs over a chair in the dining room for him. When I got up the next morning the pjs were still there and I thought "Dirty little bugger didn't have a shower". But then I saw the clothes he was wearing the night before on the floor of their bathroom and was puzzled as to what he wore to bed as it wouldn't have occurred to him to get a pair off the drying rack. When I went in to wake him for school I pulled down his doona a bit to see what he was wearing. He was wearing a pair of MY pjs! I said "Why are you wearing my pyjamas" and I was laughing. He was still waking up and I said "I have some frilly knickers in there if you want to borrow them too" He tried to act outraged but just laughed at me. He said "I wondered why the buttons did up on the other side". Phill had put them on his bed the night before unbeknownst to me. They are a cream and blue stripe and do look a bit like mens' ones. Josh didn't care, a clean pair of pjs is a clean pair of pjs. He is not insecure about his masculinity that boy. The girls used to dress him up in dresses and headbands when he was little and it never worried him too much. We have some very funny photos to drag out at his 18th birthday party.
Yesterday didn't pan out as I thought it would. At around eleven am some cars pulled up out the front and around the side and next thing the selling agent is at my front door wanting to bring people through for an inspection. First I knew of it. I told him we hadn't been notified, and then it occurred to me that perhaps Phill had taken the call last week when I wasn't around and given them permission and forgotten to tell me. So I agreed for them to come in even though the house was a mess and I wasn't prepared for anyone to come in. I rang Phill who also knew nothing about it, by this time four very large people PLUS another agent were in my house. The other agent was the property manager who has leased us two houses here and knows us very well, but she acted as if she'd never seen me before. Odd but I let that one go. I made it clear to the agent that I wasn't happy and he mumbled something about the office girl leaving a message on the answering machine. These fatties were very rude about the way they looked through the house, as if I wasn't even there. Then, when they were all out in the back yard I heard voices in the hallway, two more fatties had arrived and just let themselves in! Not only was this extremely rude, it could also have compromised our insurance had they stolen anything, as they easily could have before I discovered they were in the house. None of them looked like they could even afford to buy a house, I suspect they were just sticky beaks who wanted to get a look inside a house which looks lovely and imposing from the outside. They would have got a rude shock when they got a look at the inside! It's a piece of crap.
I was quite upset and angry by the time they left. There were personal things about the house that I hadn't got around to putting away as I was busy getting washing done after all the rain, and getting the dinner in the slow cooker. I wrote a stern letter to the real estate and sent a copy to our own managing real estate, oddly they are renting through one business and have the house listed for sale with another.
We have dodgy electricity here, the fuse box is probably the original one and if I have the washer, dryer and dishwasher on it shorts and the power on one side of the house goes out and we have to go out and flick the switch. Em and I decided to have it happen while the large people were there and ran around turning everything on. Nope, it wasn't going to happen. We just laughed and laughed even more, when an hour later, after they'd gone the power went off with just the dishwasher going. I had planned to call out loudly "Oh no there goes that dodgy fuse box again, it happens 20 times a day". No fun there for us.
I did the meat for the pies, and for some reason got the bright idea to cook it in stout, a dark beer. When I tasted it later it tasted bitter and I thought I'd ruined it. I added some sugar and cooked it some more and it seemed to improve. We didn't end up having the pies last night as Phill's shift dragged on and we had to go to Junee to pick him up and didn't get home till late. We went down and got fish and chips, something we rarely do. The meat tastes a lot better today after standing. I have some minced beef and some chicken to use up and I might make a few different fillings and the kids can choose then. I'm going to make Nigella's chocolate bread pudding as well. I might put the recipe on my recipe blog, credit to Nigella of course, it's a lovely, easy, cheap recipe especially if you have crusty bread left over.
Phill had to go to Wagga to do a training job today so I called a taxi to take Josh to school, spoiled little man he is. He wasn't happy, as I normally go with him and then walk downtown and do my shopping, but I didn't want to do it today as I have to get him home as well and Em and I will walk up to the school to meet him and then go down and get supplies and get another cab home. He won't catch the bus as he "gets picked on". I told him he could walk if he wanted to. His school bag is so heavy with his school laptop and his textbooks etc and he swears he needs everything in it. I am pushing to get a second car sooner rather than later now the other one is paid off.
I'm just rambling now and putting off getting in and cleaning this house. I should go and do some work in the yard and enjoy this lovely sunshine.
Our friend Barry rang last night to tell me proudly he had "met someone". It's six months today since Dot died and I keep telling him he needs to get out and meet some nice women. The someone he met turned out to be a flight attendant who had chatted him up on a flight from Sydney to his home in Adelaide. She lives in Sydney so I don't know how that is going to work. At least he's making a start though.
Think I'll have another cuppa and do some onine shopping. The housework isn't going anywhere.

I like living alone..if I don't want to clean, no one is bothered by it but me..
Uplifting to hear he has found himself again and is seeing someone.
That real estate agent...HAD A NERVE! Unbelievable!!!
I'll be back to visit with you soon. (((hugs)))Pat
Your Rea;l estate agents have broken your contract haven't they really the mongrels...what better way to make you feel lesser than by what they did... this make me really angry for some reason
hmm - that "inspection" does seem a bit odd doesn't it? I would hate living with a bad fuse box, we rented a house a few years ago in Colorado and something about the vent for the dryer and the vent for the heater being too close. So if it got "too cold" the heater wouldn't work.
what good is that?!?
