Happy Chat

We are trying to organise a family get together.  A whole family one, including my sisters, their children and grandchildren, my children and grandchildren and my mother.  No easy task since there are so many of us and the kids are so busy with family and jobs etc.  It's coming together nicely to my surprise.  I rang my oldest, Ali, tonight to catch her up on things and although she was busy, we had a really nice talk, I could tell she didn't want to get off the phone with me.  She wrapped her husband's birthday present, he is 33 today, finished cooking a lasagne all the while chatting with me.  This is HUGE.  I did not raise her, a story I will leave for another time but we are slowly building a mother/daughter relationship based on what we have now and the few shared memories of the past that we have.  She actually told me she felt comfortable talking to me, and being with her blood relatives, she's recently seen Mum and my oldest sister.  I am planning a trip up to Sydney next week so I can see her and Harvey, and actually see her while she is pregnant, which I didn't get to do with her or with Mandy when she was pregnant with Jake.  I want to give her the slow cooker I bought for her.  I can't wait to see them, Harvey will have grown so much since I last saw him.
Kate finally got her Christmas present yesterday and she loved the jewellery I got her, she really loved it.  And she seemed pleased that I got her a stocking and put treats in it like I used to when she was at home.  It really is true that working on relationships makes them better.  Seems trite to say but I am seeing it in action.  Even here at home, the effort I put in seems to be coming back to me.
I even rang my second oldest, Mandy, with whom I have a prickly relationship and left messages saying I loved her and giving her my phone numbers etc.  She is a difficult one, but SO much like me.  Too much like me which is why we clash I think.
I've had a couple of easy days, not much to do when Phill the Controller is home so I make the most of it.
Tomorrow he is off to work for a couple of days, and word is he is doing some temp transfers which means he'll be away for longer.  I need to get my housewife mojo happening.  What does mojo even mean?  I don't know but it will be good anyway.
Tonight I am happy.  And did I mention that I am having a GRAND DAUGHTER? ;)
