I booked two nights in Sydney for next weekend so I can see Ali and Harvey (and the bump who I call Mary Rose). ;) I'm really looking forward to it, my sisters will come out and see us too. I drove up to Young and got Ali's slow cooker out of lay by, she's going to love it as much as I love mine, it will make life so much easier when she's back at work with two littlies.
Last week Kate and I were talking on the phone about books. She is a voracious reader as I was, and I used to love buying her books and tried to get some of ones that I loved when I was a child. Ethel Turner was a well known author who wrote the classic "Seven Little Australians" which was made into a mini series. Another of her books, "Miss Bobbie" was one of my favourite books and when we lived in Gunnedah I bought an old second hand copy of it for Katy. She read it and enjoyed it, and for some reason I kept it, probably because it was such an old copy. It has a book plate inside the cover saying that it was a prize for a girl named Margaret at a country Sunday school in 1949. Kate and I wondered who she was and what ever happened to her and I got the bright idea of trying to find her and return it to her. We two have so many bright ideas during our late night talks. ;) So I googled the surname and found a family website and emailed the owner. She got back to me and said she thought she knew who it may be and today I got another email saying she had found the owner and she lives in Gunnedah. I had forgotten where I got the book from but when I realised she lived there I remembered buying it. Margaret remembered the book very well and didn't know why she had been parted from it but is really pleased I tracked her down and would love to have the book back. So sixty two years after receiving it as a prize, Margaret and her family will have it back. I'm so glad I took the time to do it, it seems trivial but it's good to have a nice story sometimes. And I have a feeling that the story hasn't ended yet.
I bought myself a little hair straightener today, I never thought I would succumb but my frizzy freaking hair is driving me nuts in this weather. I quite like what it does, (ie straighten hair), don't know why I didn't think of it before.
I'm still feeling really good re the menopause crap. I have no symptoms, no teariness or irritability (unless it's Phill) and am even not letting Emily get to me so much. She made herself sick tonight because she was trying to pick a fight and I wasn't playing. I was on the phone to Mum and heard her throwing up in the toilet, but it sounded very forced to me. I went in later and gave her a wet cloth with some essential oils on it for her forehead and all is quiet in there now and I think she's asleep. I'd go and check on her but the room is so trashed again I can't find a path from the door to her bed. I probably will anyway.
Ah, a night in bed on my own tonight, sans snoring.

look at you! I would never have thought to go tracking down a book's owner. Such a lovely idea. And I do love the slowcooker, ours was a wedding present from a working mom and wasn't she brilliant to get it for me? We use it all the time, especially for soups & stews in the winter.
Long ago I had the opportunity to find the owner of a suitcase that hubby found on the highway. New bride on her honeymoon and her luggage came off the top of her car.
Another was an old highschool ring.
Yes....it FEELS GOOD to go above and beyond to locate someone.
I'm excited for you and your Sydney trip :0)
Don't anyone DARE RAIN on Trishs' Parade. I can feel your excitement from across the ocean.
Connect with your family and come away rejuvinated and strong enough to jump the hurdles my/f.
Life is GOOD! I shit you not!
(((hugs)))Pat
