Internet Shopping

All of these retailers whingeing that online shopping is taking their business, wake up!  I drove up to Young today to get a birthday present for my grandson Harvey who turns two on Sunday.  I had an idea of what I wanted but it wasn't set in stone.  He loves Thomas the Tank Engine (as my own boy Josh did when he was little) but there was nothing in BigW for his age group except one torch thingie which would have been great but the box was all ripped and the paint was scuffed off the toy and it was the only one they had.  This is the only place nearby that really sells toys, and they didn't have much in Wagga either when we were there last week.  I ended up getting him a cute Duplo (baby Lego) set and a pair of Thomas pjs.  But I have decided that from now on I will do as much shopping online as I can.  I do a lot anyway, but not for things like that for the kids.  If the retailers on the ground can't provide a good selection of goods they shouldn't complain when they lose business to online traders, most of whom provide an excellent service.  I got a little two pack of tiny socks for the new baby, again, very hard to get unisex baby gear these days, I guess it's because most parents know what gender they are having early on.  I just wanted to send something up there, I will go overboard when we know if it's a girl or a boy.  I can't wait.
I got my hair cut yesterday and two of my favourite girls from our salon aren't there anymore.  It's disappointing but I will still keep going there, it's nice to go in and they know my name and how I like my hair cut etc.
I'm half thinking of going up to Sydney for the weekend but don't know if I can face that drive, it's a barstard.  I'll wait and see what my sisters and Ali have planned, I would like to see Harvey for his birthday.
We bought a fondue set at Vinnie's for five dollars.  Some readers of this blog will remember my husband's pyromaniac adventures and why I have thrown out such sets in the past.  Tonight however was uneventful and the kids loved it, we sat outside (obviously) and had fillet steak, chicken breast and some pork with lots of dipping sauces, chicken chips warmed up in the oven and a salad.  Emily was very taken with the chip thing and I don't even remember where I got that it was a traditional side to an Aussie fondue.  Kate would remember but she won't answer her fucking phone.
I had a really nice gossip session tonight on FB with one of my schoolfriends.  I know it's wrong but it feels so right.  Reunion is being planned for next year and I am NOT going to miss this one, I am even going to help plan it, well I did that with the first one, twenty years or so ago but as a single mum back then just couldn't afford to go up for it.
I don't think we'll go to Sydney, the Harvster's birthday is Saturday and it will take us most of the day to drive up there, for some reason I hate that drive.  I think we'll wait and go later.
I have to break the news to Josh that Phill may not be here for his birthday and therefore we won't be going to Canberra.  That's okay we can do that trip later too.

I enjoy a bit of online shopping myself. Mostly books and wool. I am not a fan of shopping in malls or shopping centres at all and don't see the point if I can get what I want from home. In both of these cases I am getting my books and wool cheaper anyway so why wouldn't I?

Less time shopping = more knitting/crochet or reading time for me = happy me!

"...I can face that drive, it's a barstard" hahaha I just love how we Aussies use the word "bastard" - your photos always show so much of the world you live in - thanks
