Pretty Monday

My herbs are coming back in the old pot, parsley, oregano and chives there, that cursed hose fitting won't grow though.

I am so loving this house now Spring is in full swing.  I got in and tidied up the yard yesterday, picked up all the oranges and put them in the compost, then weeded the back garden beds.  There is lots of room for new plantings and I'm thinking more roses and some more flowers for the back and probably some vegies as we have a designated patch up the back with retic.  Both Phill and I have a feeling that our lease may not be renewed come December, the girl who owns the place moved out to live with her boyfriend but when we called into her father's house to drop off some mail she was there with her dog so we're wondering if it's fallen through.  In any case there is not a lot we can do, and they can't make us move till we have somewhere else and I won't live in a dump again.  We'll be here for Christmas at least.  I'm really looking forward to that now after feeling less than enthusiastic.   Sure the kids aren't little anymore but they're not grown either and we can still have fun and make some happy memories for them.
I watched a doco last night called "Boy Interrupted" about a 15 year old who had mental health issues most of his life and finally took his own life by jumping out a window.  In the US, for the wealthy anyway, it would seem they have better mental health resources than we do here.  Health and education in this country is a joke considering the amount of taxpayers' dollars that are thrown at it.  His life reminded me so much of Emily's.  His reactions to things as well.  And while he had been diagnosed as bi-polar, and she has not been, I couldn't help wondering if we too often try to force a round peg into a square hole with our kids.  Perhaps it's time for me to start thinking outside the square or something.  I don't know, I just know that she has so much potential, so much talent and is really a wonderful kid once all the other crap is stripped away.  I just have to keep trying to find what works for her.  And I will.  She is up for school and has had a shower.  She got Phill to go down and buy some stockings for her yesterday, and tried them on with her school skirt and shirt and looked so sweet.
Phill came home from work with two dozen beautiful free range eggs last night.  The grandson of a guy he works with lives out at Marrar and has Isa Brown chooks like the ones we had in Junee.  It made us miss our girls again, but we can't have chickens here of course.  This fellow is selling them for $2 a dozen and I told Phill to tell him we'll be regular customers and I'd pay more than that for them.  Nothing better than a really fresh egg, I can remember walking down to the coop in the early sunshine and collecting the eggs then coming right into the kitchen and poaching them for breakfast.  Oh well if we get kicked out of here we might find a nice farmhouse somewhere and have hens again.
I am going to get my mophead cut today and go to the library and get some cleaning done but not much as Phill is home.  He is going away for ten days or so up north to do some training which will be a nice change, I can get some proper work done in the house.
Home made burgers tonight laced with lots of vegies and maybe fruit salad for dessert, I'll get them eating healthy yet!
