Drizzled Saturday

I slept late this morning and woke up to drizzle which looks like it's been going most of the night.  Everything is wet and lush and lovely.  I've only had to water the pots since Phill has been gone.
I got up and hung washing on the airing rack under the pergola and cleaned up the kitchen which looked like a food bomb had gone off in there.
I've been doing a lot of thinking, a bit of despairing, some panicking and brainstorming.  Emily seems more relaxed by the day, happy and not acting out at all.  She and Josh, who stayed home again yesterday as he still wasn't 100% have been enjoying each other and having fun and laughing a lot.  And this is good.  I need to step back, relax a bit and look at the big picture, while keeping in mind what is important here.  Our family, and our happiness and well being.  Emily will probably never return to school, she may not even return to any kind of formal study, but it's not the end of the world.  We will find something that suits her, something that will let her realise the many strengths and talents she has and turn them into her future.  I did not hear from the school, which is true to form for them.  I have decided to write a letter stating that she isn't returning to school due to the assaults and the fact that the school cannot guarantee her safety there.  I know government departments, they can't ignore a letter, it has to be logged, acted on etc.  I will send a copy to the regional office too I think.  It will also cover us if they want to get legal (yeah right).
I need to clean out the freezer so I can get the fridge cleaned and ready for Christmas.  Phill is on his way home from Dubbo and tonight we'll have a "leftover" bbq.  I got some chicken out, will do lime and chilli marinade on some and sate on the rest, a couple of marinated pork chops, some sausages and some ribs.  We have to sit down and have a good talk about what Emily's options are.  I have several ideas, we just have to figure out what will work best.
Never a dull moment around here and if I was expecting any at this time of my life I should have thought twice about having babies in my late 30s.
These three kittens are going to be BIG trouble.  Josh just brought one in and it has its eyes open already after just seven days.  They're already trying to get out of the nest the little buggers.  And it's too hot to keep them out in the shed, they'd cook out there.  What fun!!

Seriously just really watch your back when dealing with the authorities over kids - they are a law unto themselves...keep copies of everything - I have copies of a book called "Sarahs Last Wish" which is being sold as a pair on Eve Hillary (the author)'s website - I send her 6 of my books and she sends me the same of hers and I basically donate them - but am happy to pass one on to you. Luckily your Em is older so they are not likely to pull the shocking actions they did on Sarah;s family and on poor little Sarah - if you would like a copy just email me your address and will post it - I don't think you will ever look at the authorities the same again.

I remember you posting about Emily being amazing catching a fish with her hands and that she had a way with animals- I hope whatever she does its something she's really into and good at.
A friend of mine has a daughter who left school during year 11. She is now doing a beauty therapy course and couldn't be happier learning something she is really into.
