We're Off to the Circus

As opposed to the circus that has been our life of late that is.  As previously mentioned it's Cootamundra's Sesquicentenary this week and many celebrations are planned for our little town.  The circus, one of the three branches of the old Ashton's Circus that now exist, is coming to town.  We saw Circus Joseph Ashton when we lived in WA and it was fun.  I kind of boycotted circus shows for a long time due to what I saw as exploitation of animals like elephants who have no business being in such things.  But it seems that has all changed now.  The only animals in the circus we saw were cute little performing dogs who were clearly loving their act and were obviously spoiled and pampered (we saw their quarters after the show!).  The rest of the show involved people on trapeze and high wires and such.  Anyway I entered a competition in the local paper and we got home from taking Phill to Junee to find a message saying we'd won a family pass, so we will go on Saturday afternoon.
The bathroom here has had a funny smell since we moved in but I put it down to the house being empty and shut up for a while beforehand.  It got worse and worse and Phill went out and checked the drain and sure enough sewage was overflowing into the front garden.  It looked pretty obvious to us that it was tree roots blocking the drain and we rang the real estate to let them know.  He just had to inform Phill that if it was our fault (ie us putting a dead body down the loo or something) we would have to pay for the plumber.  Duh.  Anyway the plumber came this morning, our over the back fence neighbour, and when we got back he'd dug something up and while the bathroom now smells better and the loo works better there is a hole in the front yard by the water meter with a black pipe broken in two, not sure what that means.
Phill and I got on the XPT yesteday and went to Wagga to pick up the hire car.  It was actually a pleasant train trip and a nice break, I hadn't intended going with him but I'm glad I did.  We got a cute little red Hyundai for a week, which really takes the pressure off while our car is getting fixed.
Apart from everything else Phill needs to get to work.  I just love this car, I wish I could have one just like it.  Not as much grunt as ours but so easy to park and drive.
Finally got my hair coloured today and I love, love, love it.  It's exactly what I wanted.
Hard to see the "before" but it was my natural mouse colour, with bits of both the hairdresser streaks from ages ago along with my pathetic attempt at blonding it a while back in a desperate moment.
This is the end result.  They gave me a darker blonde base colour, then lighter foils with a little bit of dark brown.  I'm really happy with it.  We are so lucky to have a good hairdresser, Em has an appointment for a colour and cut on Friday afternoon after school and Josh is getting his hair cut then as well.
Yes I have a towel around me!  This was just before my bath tonight, trying out my homemade bubble bath.  Could have been better, I will keep experimenting.
I am sleeping better every night, my ear plugs are wonderful, even without the snoring, it just blocks out all sounds and makes for a really peaceful sleep.  I'm a light sleeper and wake at the slightest noise these days.
I lost 900g this week, not really trying, just not drinking alcohol and eating as well as I can.  But though I've never been a sweet lover, since giving up the booze this time I am craving sugar, it's really weird.  I'm sure it will settle down as my body adjusts and becomes better nourished.
Emily continues to surprise us with her determination to stick school out as hard as it must be for her.  Home life these days is just so nice, and normal, peaceful and mostly happy.
So tired tonight, off to sleep before another busy day tomorrow, Em has her individual therapy here in town then we're off up to Young for the course.

I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE your hair color!
Lookin good m/f. :0)

I read your every word and our lives seem to follow the same pattern. UP and D O W N. Car problems. kid problems all the daily life crap. Glad things are running somewhat smoother now that you are working on things.
Baby steps while we learn from our mistakes. All will be good.
Lucky you... winning a Circus Pass. Better yet....you took the step to Enter to Win.
Maybe now that the plumbing is fixed ....things will look GREENER in your own yard. :0)
(((hugs)))

plumbing - ugh. I run from smelling pipes!!! Your hair looks wonderful - I love the color. Funny about sugar- I had a doctor tell me years ago to make up a chicken or tuna salad and keep it in the fridge (yogurt works just as well) and every time I craved a sweet to have a bite or two of the salad for the protein and then have a bit of something sweet and that would help stop the sugar cravings in time. It does seem to work.
