Unlike in a Sydney park where my dopey sister will be sitting in a couple of hours to grab a shelter for the ridiculous family picnic that is planned up there today. The forecast there is for rain, rain and more rain. Silly people. So glad I'm here and not there. It's 3C outside and felt colder when I went out just now to take rubbish out. Got up to get a drink of water and there was a rib bone from last night's dinner on the kitchen floor. One of my huge pet hates is animals getting up on bench tops to look for food, it drives me crazy. I couldn't figure out where she'd got it from, the kitchen was cleared and cleaned after dinner last night. She must have dragged it about as there was sauce all over the tiles. I cleaned it up but when I went out again to make tea there was a piece of garlic bread on the floor. Cleaned THAT up which meant getting out the dustpan for all the crumbs, and then realised I had left a small bag of scraps sitting in the sink. Little bitch has got up and gotten into that. I know she's feeding five fat kittens but she has food laid on all day, a good quality wet meal in the evening and dry food topped up always, as well as the cat milk I give her once or twice a day. So she got put out, kittens were fed and sleeping. I had a much better night last night but was still awake too early. But it's nice to be alone for a change in my warm bed and being able to put on the light and not worry about disturbing anyone. When Phill's home it's either out in the lounge room or just lie here and let my brain stew. I could never understand why, when some couples got to a certain age, they would have separate beds and even separate rooms. I do now.
I was so tired last night, did the steak and ribs on the stove, it was too cold to go outside to bbq. I made a nice salad but the kids ate little of that. I was just glad to have dinner over with and spent the evening trying to stay awake on the couch before giving in and having a reasonably early night. I'm reluctant to go to bed while Emily is still on the prowl as she gets into mischief but I had to last night. House still looks intact thankfully.
Have to go to Junee (I think) to pick up Phill and his workmate today and he was making noises about taking the boat out somewhere. I might try to get a bit more sleep. I took two lots of the new menopause supplement yesterday and no night sweats last night, could be a co incidence, could be mind over matter but I am thankful all the same.

Cats on the counter is my husband's biggest pet peeve too. One of the reasons he won't let me get another one even though I've been putting the pressure on him. I miss having a cat around.
I am with you re cats on the counter - and as I type this my old cat is walking back and front of the computer monitor just often enough to annoy me - but she is so timid and damaged I can't rouse on her - hope one day you can get a good night without worrying
