No Place Like Home

We were wasting time up there not being able to apply for a house until we clear up the mess with the real estate so we drove home today.  I am sooo glad to be back in my own home again after feeling so insecure when we thought we wouldn't be able to get a house up there.  I have a new appreciation of this little house now.  I'm a real homebody and am happiest at home with us all together.  Phill will probably have to go back up tomorrow but I won't be going back.  He can find us a house, it's his gig.  When it's a done deal only then will I continue to pack.  The kids need to be back at school and they will be tomorrow.
I will be doing all my research on how to lodge a complaint about the dodgy real estate in Junee.  I'm surprised they stay in business, so many people don't like them down there.  They think they are a law unto themselves.  We improved the garden in the house in Junee, cleaned it all up and planted roses and other stuff.  The tap by the backdoor was spouting litres of water a day and they ignored our request to have a plumber fix it.  We of course were paying for the water so in the end Phill fixed it himself and we didn't bother claiming the cost.  I let the owners show an agent through when I didn't have to, they are supposed to go through the letting agent and give us a certain amount of notice.  They just turned up unexpectedly one day.  Another time the wind blew a branch of a tree which could be seen from the road, and Phill was working away.  Instead of just knocking on the door and asking me, I got a nasty letter telling me I had to keep the grounds tidy or else etc.  I have heard many other stories about how they treat people.  We rented several houses in Junee from them in the three times we lived there and they would rent us a house but not tell us it was for sale so we'd have to move after a few months.  They are just totally arrogant arseholes.  They've messed with us for the last time, I will take this complaint process as far as I possibly can.  The real estate here on the other hand are great, the property manager is still the same one we had last time we lived here, and she is professional and won't take any shit from anyone, but she's fair and sensible.
I often think of our lovely landlady in Western Australia.  We found that house when I rang around the real estates and she was working as receptionist/property manager for one and said she actually owned a house she wanted to rent.  I loved our house there, and she used to come over and bring us presents!  She actually cried and hugged me one day when she came over and saw how we were caring for, and improving, the gardens.  I guess she'd seen her fair share of bad tenants.  We treat every house we rent like it's our own (except we don't knock down walls and stuff).  Most repairs we do ourselves if we can.
Did I mention I am so glad I'm home?
It's so cold down here, it was warm up north.

oh my - so much is going on - I had to go skim other posts and catch up a bit. MOVING. UGH! I despise moving. I like being in new places once it is over - but packing and house hunting - gag me.
