Had everything ready for the kids to return to school today but nooooo, turns out it was a pupil free day. Boy was I pissed off. I got in the car and went for a drive and felt better so went and got some groceries and enjoyed the time alone.
I've pulled a muscle or something near my right shoulder blade and was in a lot of pain so I got into my pjs and spent the day on the couch and got waited on a bit by my darling husband. He went down and got me some heavy duty painkillers and I feel a bit better now but still sore. We made goulash for dinner and it smells wonderful simmering away out there. He had to go to Wagga to pick up a tow bar for the car so he took the kids for the drive. YES! A few hours of peace and quiet.
I really feel like I'm being railroaded (heh heh railroaded, get it?) into this move up north. If it was just the two of us I wouldn't hesitate but he does this all the time which is why we've moved so much and the kids have been at so many schools which I feel has really affected them both socially and academically. Kate, as I've said before, disagrees and it certainly doesn't appear to have affected her, she got a near perfect score in her HSC equivalent and is doing Uni and has a good job and is doing really well.
I know Phill doesn't like his job down here, and his boss, who used to be a friend of ours (or so we thought) is being a total arsehole for some reason. I've heard he's like this with everyone but even so it can't be pleasant. If it was for a promotion, which is what I was led to believe it would be different, he's overdue for that, but it's all very sketchy.
I have found a gorgeous house in one of the smaller towns up there, it's just beautiful and everything this place isn't (also almost twice the rent!) It has four bedrooms, a home theatre room, ensuite to the main bedroom and a family room as well as a study. Whether it will still be there when and if we're ready to go is another question. The last thing I feel like doing right now is packing up and moving eight hours north. But we have to get out of this house whatever happens. The only thing that may save us is if they refuse to give him his holiday pay which is what we need to finance the move. We should know that in the next couple of days.
He is going away on temp transfer for a week and we might drive up there for the Mothers' Day weekend if he isn't home by then, we can have a good look around and it's a good excuse for another road trip.

WOW!!!!!
That is quite some house!
On the down side ( my age ) cleaning it is another story. ;0)
Where ever life takes you...you will do and be fine.
You are the CEMENT that keeps this family together Trish and gives it a strong foundation.
On another subject matter.Judge Judy ( out tv judge ) made a statement the other day to a parent of a teenager before her court on a matter.
"The minute a teenager wakes in the morning, the lies start forming."
While it does apply to some, I don't think it applies to all.
I'm guessing she is referring to a parents HARDEST years in raising their children. YOU BETCHA!
Us old people need a bumper sticker that says WE SURVIVED OUR CHILDREN IN SPITE OF THEM. :0)
Maybe there will be cheaper houses - but just as good - hopefully things work out the best for you and your lot.
