Can't upload photos again, had no trouble this morning.
The kids and I slept in this morning then weren't sure what we could do today. I did some washing and asked the office guy if he knew where Callala Cottage was. It's apparently the oldest dwelling in Tamworth and is set up in period style etc. The man, I think he's the owner, was so helpful and even rang the tourist info place to find out. We figured it out from the map and drove around and finally found it....and it was closed. On a Sunday. We just laughed and decided to go ten pin bowling. The bowling alley is a bar, karaoke bar and like a disco bowl type of thing, it was really cool. And cheap. We got two games, got our shoes and picked our bowling balls. I used to play league when I was a kid so I was able to give the kids a few pointers. Poor Josh was just chucking the balls but he got progressively better. Emily of course, is a natural. I won though. Of course.
They had "mocktails" and I got the kids one each, it was so cool. I had a Lemon Drop that had a small bit of lemon vodka and other stuff. We had so much fun.
We got the doings for bbq hamburgers and came home and had a swim and I sat by the pool and read the Sunday paper. Earlier we went to K Mart and I got some new swimmers, everything was on sale, I got a pink and white tankini top and a matching pair of board shorts, for $20. Em got two nighties and I got another one so we now have two more matching ones. Got Phill some boxer sleep shorts, a pack of two, one of which has a genie on it and it says "Rub Here for Luck". He'll love that. Got Josh a pair of track suit pants, he's in the small men size now.
So we barbequed some Angus beef burgers in the lovely little bbq area by the pool. It's surround on all sides by trees and shrubs and it's lovely in there. Josh was sulking again at some perceived slight, I think he's horribly hormonal so it was just Em and me and it was really nice to have that time on our own together. We got her a maxi dress and she looked so pretty and grown up in it. We talked a bit about the recent dramas and I think we made some progress, she can be so mature and sensible. I am slowly starting to see my own input into the problems and the times I was at fault and I think we are going to be okay, with a bit of outside help if that works out.
My oldest girl Ali has been trying to contact me but I just didn't want to rehash the whole thing, plus I feel really stupid about the way I acted (or overreacted as usual) but I answered her this morning and she was wonderful as usual. I am so lucky to have such terrific daughters, her, Kate and Emily.
This trip away has been such a good thing to do, our last day tomorrow and we'll all be together for the day before Phill goes to work tomorrow night and we get up early to make the long, long drive home. And I'm ready for that now I think.
