The Marketplace, Wagga Wagga, December 3rd 2010.
Nothing else was said on a special local bulletin about our area specifically, but lots of footage of North Wagga and the evacuations and other towns further south of us. More rain is forecast so perhaps they're saying there will be flooding around here at some point. It would have to be severe to affect us personally, we're a couple of blocks up from the creek and we've had no rain at all today so far (6.15pm).
The government has announced that it will help farmers affected by the heavy rains, wheat and cherries were just about to be harvested, bumper crops by all accounts after over a decade of drought, until the rains came.

My heart goes out to the people affected by these storms.
We have a river at the end of our street and while it has never spilled over here, just a half mile away is low land and they always have flooding during snow melting time and use canoes and rowboats to get out to stores and schools.
Relatives hear about it on the news and call concerned.
I have a friend that lives in Sydney, Australia and he said crops that were just waiting to be picked or gathered were wiped out and under 3-4 feet of water..really awful.
I think farmers are some of the bravest and most stoical people on the planet - when most of us do a 12 hour day at work we assume that we will get paid - they cannot assume - just hope.
