The exercise yard is a pond. I wonder if there's paving somewhere under there or the soil is just really heavy so the water doesn't drain away. Those tree branches are from an ornamental plum tree that fell over in an earlier storm, waiting to be taken to the tip. Lucky Phill built up the garden where the pumpkin and cucumber vines are planted. I couldn't even get near it to see how it's going so I did the next best thing. Zoooooom.
We have flowers so soon there should be fruit!
The back lawn is still a quagmire too and with the hot sun has that unpleasant smell of wet leaves.
I saw photos of Wagga in the paper this morning. The carpark of one of the two main shopping malls was flooded, there is a photo of a reporter walking in chest deep water down there. I hate that underground carpark and always park across in the outdoor one. Some cars got submerged in the flash flooding. Phill went through on his train this morning and said the Murrumbidgee is spilling out all over. There is talk of evacuating North Wagga and Gumly Gumly and I'm waiting for the local news to see what happened.
"For flood and fire and famine, she pays us back threefold". - Dorothea Mackellar (My Country).
And she does.
Our freshened up tree with our new light up star on the top.
The little fibre optic tree doesn't light up anymore so I got some tiny little lights and baubles and decorated it for the table on the back porch. It even has an "angel" on the top. It's a little beaded thing one of the kids gave me years ago for Mothers Day and I never knew quite what to do with it. I threaded some of the lights through her and she lights up too.
Can you believe it's been almost 30 years since John Lennon was killed? He was only 40, he shares my birthday, and had so much more to give. I wasn't a fan as such, and I barely remember the day he was killed, I had a new baby and newly broken marriage, but it was such an unnecessary tragedy. I know some people see it as their right to bear arms but town and city folk have no need for guns in my opinion.
Look who greeted me at her window when I was checking out the side garden?
My sweet little Emmy Rose (still in her pjs at 2.30pm, well it is Saturday).
I'm off to soak some fruit and nuts for my Christmas cake then it's time to write the Christmas cards.
Might have a Christmas cuppa while I'm at it.
