Mr Squiggle Hangs up his Pencil

One of my favourite shows as a child and in fact Mr Squiggle the puppet is the same age as I am!  Norman Hetherington, his creator and the man behind the voice (and all the other character voices on the show) died overnight aged 89.  Aussies of my age will have such lovely memories of the daggy tv shows of our childhood, like this one.  Thank you Mr Hetherington.  Wonder if they'll bury him "upside down, upside down!"
Emily came home yesterday with a lovely wooden box she had made for me in woodwork, photo later, I'm enjoying some quiet time before the family stirs and my camera is in the bedroom.  I'm sad she won't be doing woodwork anymore, she used to love it and she's really good at it, but since coming to this school she is in a class of only boys and she hates it.  I have, and treasure, my mug tree, my cleaning caddy and now this sweet little box and will keep them always.  My mother still has things my brothers made in woodwork at school.
The flooding in Wagga didn't eventuate in the way it was predicted but a lot of people are still out of their homes and more heavy rain is predicted from tomorrow on.  Saddest thing for me was seeing the poor cattle neck deep in water trying to swim and looking so distressed and confused.
I've been taking my menopause supplement for three weeks now and my symptoms have all but disappeared.  I'm also being diligent with my other ones, Executive stress B complex, Caltrate (calcium, magnesium and other stuff), Milk Thistle (liver tonic), St Johns Wort, fish oil/glucosamine, evening primrose oil, as well as soy milk each day and eating well and not drinking alcohol.  Apart from no hot flushes or night sweats the main thing I've noticed is my energy levels have gone up.  I'm feeling happy, and not stressing over things like I was.  My sleep could be better, but I need to get into some sort of exercise routine which will help with that.  I'm pretty busy in the house though and not sitting around as much as I was before.
OMG OMG OMG 300 odd screaming American Oprah fans touch down in Sydney in a couple of hours!  I haven't been paying a lot of attention to the hype but I hope she hand picked the audience, as she often does, and they are people who otherwise would never have been able to afford such a wonderful trip.  Hope also, that the weather holds out for our guests, Sydney in the sunshine is unmatched.
Well it's twenty to eight and the washing is hung, the pets are fed, the dishwasher is emptied and filled again, I've had a peaceful cup of tea and the day's off to a great start.

I got so tired of home ec when I was in school that I took shop..I had to get special dispensation to get in as home ec was for girls and shop was for boys..i of course said 'why?'...my dad was so proud.I made a tin lamp, a wooden bowl and some other stuff, can't remember..my mother was mortified..her daughter..in shop..
i think she just gave her audience that day the free trip...too bad, I'd love to go..have friends that live in Sydney.

I read that Australia paid Oprah 2.3 million to lure her there.
She is going to film two of her new network shows there.

The best news I've read though is.......you are feeling so much better. :0) (((hugs)))
