Happy Wednesday

Three days in a row that Em has got herself ready and gone to school with no fuss.  Mightn't seem much but it makes me VERY happy.  She has her maths and woodwork exams today and wasn't looking forward to either.  She had her second tutoring session yesterday and said she didn't get much out of it.  I'm not going to push it with her, no point in doing it if her heart isn't in it.  It's a shame because her tutor is a lovely year eleven girl, something of a sport champion she was on the front page of the local paper last week and I think she would be a great role model for Emily.
Phill has gone away again, to Victoria this time, for eight days and I'm fine with it, actually happy about it.  We got on pretty well while he was home, I made much more of an effort and he did too.  He really does take good care of us and none of us are perfect.  He can be soooo annoying but what husband isn't?  I'm sure I bug him at times too.  It is nice to have this time to myself again though and I can get so much more done in the house.
Josh told me this morning that he hasn't been on the computer for three days and was proud of himself.  I was surprised and asked why.  He said he wanted to lose weight.  I asked him how not using the computer would help him lose weight.  He said he had been going outside and walking around the yard instead.  I hadn't even noticed (where IS that mother of the year award??).  But I am glad he raised the subject of his weight.  He really is carrying way too much.  But I didn't want to raise it with him just yet as his confidence is low anyway.  But now I'm going to run with it.  I told him this afternoon we would go for a walk.  We'll start off slow and increase our distance each time we go.  I need to get fit too.  We can shoot hoops, or play the Wii fit if it's raining.  Those Wii sports games are a great workout.  He is eating a lot more lately, which is unusual for him and I know he needs it as he's growing really fast so I don't want to restrict that, just try to make what he does eat as healthy for him as possible.  It's not just about his appearance, although that is what is bothering him, it's his health and I need to get him back on track.  He won't even take his jumper off at school and it's starting to get really warm here.  I need to get him some larger size school shirts but I was hoping to hold off until next year, as he's likely to grow another size before school starts again in February.
The kofta last night were great, I tried a new recipe that has cracked wheat in it, as well as mint and flat leaf parsley both of which I have in the garden.  Everyone loved it and we had it with a garlic and mint yoghurt sauce, fried rice and salad.  The recipe was for meatballs but I formed the mix around kebab sticks and we did them on the barbeque.
Have my Vietnamese Pork Ball recipe in the slow cooker again today.  Every time I make them I take another shortcut.  I started off diligently chopping up fresh lemongrass, garlic and onion (or French shallot when I can get them) finely and bit by bit I started using bottled stuff until today I used bottled garlic and chilli, lemongrass out of a tube and onion powder.  No one has noticed any difference so far, it will be interesting to see how they turn out tonight.
Well coffee's gone, back to work.

I'd appreciate having less negative to write about as I'm sure you are. :0)
It's so very true..........we all have our faults.
As long as we have something to work with, us women can make a purse out of a sow's ear.
Keep up that positive outlook m/f.

We have also been having a bit of a problem with weight up here! Zak especially seems to have piled on the weight, pretty scary considering we don't buy junk for them. Its great that Josh is tackling the matter of his own accord, very mature! :-)

I remember one year in high school thinking I was fat (I wasn't) and wearing my jumper till I couldn't stand it anymore - then I got over it.

You are doing the right thing and good you didn't hit him up with the weight issue - till he came out with it himself
