Dirty Old Saturday

The house is dirty, the clothes are dirty (load of washing still in the machine from yesterday) and I'm dirty as I haven't had a shower today yet and I even went to the supermarket like that!
Sometimes it just works to slum it a bit.  Well for me anyway.
It's hot and humid and drizzly and we're just going to be lazy today and worry about everything tomorrow.
A while back there was an offer in a magazine here for a free mug with photos on it and I got one, and love it.  I put a photo of Harvey, the Ferals, Phill and Sarah and I won't even use it, it sits on my microwave.  The caption on it is "My Heart".  So this week another magazine has a free offer for photo Christmas cards.  I could do them myself on the computer but I decided to take up the offer and today I bought the kids each a dicky Santa hat thingy and got them out on the front porch for a photo shoot.  They were such good sports and I got a perfect shot that really sums up our family but I won't post it here because I might send YOU a Christmas card if I can track you down and stalk you find out your address.
When do you put up the Christmas tree?  We always did it on December 1st and I thought I was jumping the gun with that until I saw a house the other day with its Christmas decos up outside already.  I think we'll probably put it up earlier this year.   I need to move my desk from in front of one of the windows to make room for it, which means Josh's computer will have to go in his room which means Emily will complain and want her computer in her room (where my desk will have to go).  I need to clean the house first.  I love my new relaxed approach to Christmas now that Kate isn't here.  As long as the kids get the pressies they want, and I cook a turkey and let them make shortbread they're happy.
Last night we were talking about this and Josh was really keen to get the tree up.  I said to him "Oh it's lovely that you're still excited about putting up the Christmas tree" and he just looked at me funny until I realised he was more interested in the computer being in his room.  Duh.

Snicker, snicker at that ending.
That's exactly the way my 11 year old grandson Logan would think.
One step ahead of you. :0)

My livingroom is so crowded I have no idea this year where the tree will go. :0(
I have a sturdy end table that will hold a small fake tree. :0)
If we get a real tree like Logan likes...my daughter will wait til a week before Christmas so that we can move about.

Finding a place to seat everyone for Thanksgiving is uppermost on my mind now. sigh!

We chucked out our old fake tree thinking we'd get a real one only to find we couldn't get a real one anywhwere last year. Very strange.
And as for Thanksgiving my friend, at least one of you will have a comfy lift chair! ;)
