Well decent food anyway. We have two Chinese restaurants here now, one is called "Maxims" WTF? The other one has a respectable Chinese name and respectable Chinese owners but the food is seriously terrible. I learned to cook Chinese recipes out of sheer desperation at country town offerings and I am a better Chinese cook than these fine folk. When we lived here before there was a Thai restaurant off one of the pubs and the food was really good. They had gone by the time we came back here to live but recently the same people returned to the same restaurant, we got a menu in the letterbox the other day. They're not cheap and we're not exactly flush at the moment but I thought "bugger it" and the kids and I got takeaway tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. I told them if they have a full week at school next week without dramas I'll take them out to celebrate the end of their exams, Josh has his next week. The restaurant is a really nice setting and has windows looking out to a pretty walled garden. Phill and I went to lunch there when they opened the first time and the service and presentation was amazing. They brought rice out in this gorgeous silver lidded tureen. Even tonight, our styro containers were beautifully decorated with fresh salad. So we're stuffed now and have plenty of leftovers for lunch tomorrow.
I had a phone call from my ex husband yesterday and we finally had a long conversation. It was nice but made me appreciate Phill a LOT.
It's finally getting hot here, the cats are a bit shocked and poor old Maxy copes less and less with extremes in the weather. I have the a/c on here above me.
This old guy knocked on the front door today and asked me if he could park his campervan in our stables! WTF? He said he noticed we had so much room out the back and he has to park it in the street at his place. I was so shocked I didn't say "no" to him but said I'd ask Phill. It's so wrong on so many levels, we don't know them for a start. How would insurance work? It's just weird. He did offer to pay some rental but it's just odd. What gall to even knock on the door and ask at all.
I'm so glad it's Friday. The year is coming to an end at a rapid rate.

A DIL rents out stalls in her wide garage.
I don't know how insurance works on that.
Extra money would be nice though...but if kids scratch or ding it???
Even dogs nails have been known to scratch the car paint if they jump up on it with their front paws.
geezzzzzzzzz I'm such a negative old frump! ;0(
Chinese food !!!! That perks me up and makes me think happy thoughts. :0)
You have a handle on things m/f.
Funny thing about so called Chinese restaurants, most of them are not even Chinese! (or qualified chefs) hence the reason the food can often be yuk. I once got extremely bad food poisoning and have pretty much avoided any shops without checking out their kitchens first!
Who is the old guy - is he the owner? If so maybe he could take something off the rent
What is it about Chinese food... I can eat a truck load of it, and then and hour later, I'm starving ?
West has no chinese restaurants and I tried out the one in Hillsoboro when I was staying there and it's a hole in the wall but the food was incredible..can't beat good chinese.
