The photo at the top was Em's hair after she got it cut at our old hairdresser in February. They did a terrible streaking job, it was uneven and untoned, went yellow very quickly and they didn't cut it anywhere near how we wanted it done. I was thinking that maybe the cut we wanted didn't suit her hair but we knew from the start that the blonding job was dodgy.
This afternoon we went to the new hairdresser and it's turned out exactly how we wanted it. They did foils not the agonising streaking cap, and the colour is perfect and they cut it how we wanted it, ie thinning and layering it a bit to make it sit better and be more manageable for her. They couldn't believe the bad cut she'd been given and were agog at the terrible dye job. So she's happy, and I'm happy. She wants a hair straightener now and the hairdresser said as long as she doesn't overuse it and is sensible she should be right, but I need to do some research first, also we'll see how the hair stands up to just normal treatment. I love having a girly girl, I didn't have that with Katy.
I had a hankering for something Thai today so I made a big bowl of my asian salad and made a dressing of lime juice, fish sauce, chilli, garlic and a bit of sugar. The salad was shredded wombok, julienned shallot, carrot, cucumber, capsicum with snow pea sprouts, fresh coriander and mint from the garden and a few of our homegrown snow peas straight off the vine. I left it there for everyone to do with it what they wanted. I added a small tin of salmon to mine and topped with a few crispy noodles and fried shallot. Such a healthy salad, no fat except the little in the garnish.Tonight we did pizza in the pizza maker with wholemeal lebanese pita bases, my homemade sauce that had lots of puree vegies in it, and low fat mozzarella. I just had a sparse amount of cheese with lots of mushrooms, some capsicum, black olives, jalapeno chillis and a bit of anchovy with pizza herbs on top. The others had their fatty pepperoni and cabanossi but the kids declared it the best pizza ever, even better than the home delivered one, which has gone downhill a bit lately. So easy with the pita bases and so much better for us. If I can just wean them off the fatty crap I'd be happy.
It's still so cold here, just like Winter and it's getting old now. We have both heaters on tonight. I'm off to turn on my electric blanket.
