No, I'm not fighting a pointless, unwinnable war in the middle east, I'm crocheting Emily's rug to match the colours of her bedroom curtains, quilt and wallpaper. I never truly learned to do it properly and fell into the habit of doing five rows of each colour ad nauseum. With Emily's rug though we decided to mix it up a bit. I started off with a big green middle then went five white, five pink, then just three purple, two green and so on. I finished off five rows of pink but find I don't have much purple left, so am just going to do one row of that before going back to a fairly large patch of green. It's looking really nice and I can't believe I didn't try it before.
Phill had to be collected from Junee late yesterday so our planned Macca run to Young turned into a longer drive. We got to Junee before the train came in and went and looked at the old house in Hill Street. It's for sale and not by the mongrels who let it to us. In fact most of the houses for sale, and there are a lot of them, are not with them. They had an arrogant monopoly in real estate in Junee for many years, and I'm glad people now have a choice. Because of them we financed our previous landlords' house having all the door surrounds repainted which didn't need it and we lost all of our bond.
The kids and I talked about Junee and our experiences there and we concluded, even though amazingly they still miss some aspects of it, that we really did do the right thing coming here. Then we saw Phill's train coming in and we went and sat on the freezing railway platform and remembered living right across the road, in two different houses, and how much we loved hearing and seeing the trains coming and going and listening when Daddy would blow the whistle for us.
Finally he met us on the platform and we drove into Wagga in the darkness. I can't drive after sunset due to my dodgy eyesight, so it's a bit of a novelty going anywhere at night. We got the kids their longed for Maccas and then went and got some Indian takeaway. There is the most beautiful Indian restaurant in Wagga, you know how they decorate and the aromas were heavenly. It made me realise that I miss "civilisation" more than I thought I did. Lots of people coming in for dinner and to get takeaway etc. We headed home along those dark, unlit country roads, and had our entrees in the car and then heated up the other stuff later. The Rogan Josh was wonderful, better than mine and I'm still trying to figure out what was different. Also their garlic naan bread was something I wish I could emulate. I guess they have the proper tandoor to cook it in but I'd love to figure out how to make it like that without one.
Phill wore one of the "Breathe Easy" strips last night and I had the best sleep. He didn't snore once that I heard, so we're waiting to see if it was a fluke or if it really works. He's working tonight but he'll wear it tomorrow night and it will be interesting to see how it goes. I could hear him breathing when I woke up but it was normal, peaceful breathing.
He got something off Ebay to fix up one of the old computers as he's sick of the kids hogging his laptop. I won't let them near mine, I have little enough of my own and they accept it but he lets them use his. Personally I think one computer shared between two kids (they share the big desk pc) is more than enough, especially as Emily has her school laptop but he is computer mad and loves tinkering with them. To the exclusion of all else sometimes. Still, can't all be perfect like me. ;)
