That is probably my favourite song of all time. *sigh* I know I've posted it before on my old blog, but come on......JT AND Mark Knopfler? I backed away from the JT stuff since the friends I made on a 'fan site"
turned into "the nasties".
I had to get out of the house today, I just had to, been cooped up here too long. The only places I go to lately are, school, Julie's, and the supermarket.
So we took a lovely country drive out on the Temora road and my "hunter/gatherer" got us some wood, a bootful to be exact.
The Ferals were reluctant to go with us but I tricked them and they actually got dressed and came with.
Yeah so enthused.
But really, everything is so green and gorgeous after ten years of drought here. I grew up in Sydney so maybe I'm still in awe, this is God's country, it truly is.
This is just a fraction of the load we ended up with, just from a discarded Kurrajong tree by the side of the road.
Won't be long and he WILL be driving the car.
I had never been to Stockinbingal and today felt like a tourist, even though it's only aboutk 23kms from here. What a pretty little town, and it's obviously been a busy town back in the day. Lots of closed up shops, the pub is kind of a B&B from what we can gather, although they offer hot showers for $2 according to sign on the road (with a Tooheys logo on it!). Must remember that next time the hot water goes out.
This must have been the "cottage hospital", looks like a doss house now but I could be wrong.
I could live in Stock. We dream of a house with a bit of land to run chickens and relatives that we don't really like. You know, just keep chasing them about till they get annoyed.

Sounds like a great trip! You've convinced me to get rid of this cooped up feeling!
What lovely country - I miss the reall country west of the divide -
Winter days can be wonderful when you get out and about - getting the wood like that will save some dollars -my dad used to sell cut wood for fires - it was his weekend job.
