We woke to a huge frost this morning, the bird bath was frozen solid and remained frozen for much of the day. In the car as I drove the kids to school just before nine am, they reported on the radio that it was minus one in Cootamundra.
When the real estate property manager Liz arrived she said it had got down to minus 4 overnight!
I worked hard all day to get the fire going and now it's roaring, the house is lovely and warm, I even had to open up the sliding door into the bedroom part of the house to let some heat out and warm up in there a bit.
Max is in his house with two hot water bottles and I will go out and fill them again before I go to bed. He's a happy doggie today. I got a cheap rib eye steak and browned it in a frypan then finished it off in the oven as I felt like red meat. I couldn't eat it all of course even though it wasn't big. I gave Max the bone with some meat on it and the rest of the meat for his dinner tonight. I swear he was thanking me as I filled his hot water bottles up in the laundry. He sleeps in the toilet, well not IN the toilet obviously, but the room that is off the laundry outside. He has a little plastic pet carrier that has been his home since we put him on the plane for Western Australia. He has his fleecy mattress in there and lots of old towels for warmth and comfort. I give him hot water bottles at night in Winter and close him in there just before I retire for the night. I hope he's warm enough. The kittens are eating solid food now, even dry food at just five weeks so the weaning won't be a problem I am just not sure how to toilet train them.
The house inspection went alright but I'm glad it's over. I didn't stress about it, as long as we leave the house as we found it when we finally leave that's all that matters. Liz rented us the first house here when we lived here before so she knows we take care of our home.
Made my lamb curry tonight with raita and basmati rice and some bought roti bread. I'm glad the kids tastes are changing and they'll eat "grown up" food now. I put pureed broccoli and cauliflower in the curry and it turned out really creamy and just the right amount of heat.
Harley got a gourmet dinner tonight too, as well as Maxy. I cut up the rest of the bbq chook I had and she ate two big bowsl full of chicken. Still whingeing for more but she finally gave up and is asleep in the nest with the kittens. I am making stock with the chicken carcass and will make soup tomorrow. Phill will be home at around lunchtime hopefully and will no doubt be glad of some hot soup.
Feeling a lot better today, my membership with U3A came through and I enrolled in the Autobiography and Blogging course and am just waiting for acceptance into that so I can get started. I have a year of membership and can do any and all of their courses if I want.
I'm going to make some lemon butter tomorrow, I'll put aside a jar for Julie, and take some up to the school for the facilitators of the mentoring programme. Em is disappointed that she won't be going for two weeks due to the school holidays, she loves going so much.

Wow - I did an Autobiography course way back in 1992/93... and the result is a large ringbinder of short stories about my life...up until my mother died...then I lost heart...we had an excellent teacher and she is still part of a small writing group I am part of...I am so excited for you...you will get so much out of it... and maybe because you still have your mum and older sisters they can help clear up areas you may not recall - especially your mum
