So on Thursday we will sign the lease on the new house, our 22nd address in almost 20 years of being together. There a lot of reasons why we never bought a home of our own, some of them not sound, some of them out of our control, but they gave us the life we have had, both good and bad. And it just is. We will have to get out of this place at some stage as it's for sale and as things were when we had to get out of our last place, there is just very little decent on offer, that suits us price wise and location wise.
The boxes are filling up and slowly this house is starting to look like just a house, not our home. Yet I know that home isn't where you live, or even what you have, although I have learned that these things mean something too, it's really where your family is and where you feel safe and comfortable.
I will miss this old place, it has a really nice feel about it, like no bad things have ever happened here, and only happy families inhabited it.
I will miss the busyiness, the trains and cars and trucks coming and going and our big comfortable bedroom.
The new house has lots to offer as well though. A new chapter in our lives. Again.
Phill rang up to get the internet and phone disconnected and reconnected and "someone" stuffed up the the net got cut off right away. I should have done it myself. They can't reconnect it so we'll be without net access till we move in, and the phone will be off tomorrow. Glad I topped the stick up for our holiday, we hardly used it so it should see us through.
The kids got used to the idea of no internet, and Em actually said she was glad because they were being "kids" again, playing outside, doing their movies and make believe like they used to. They are 17 and 15. I am so lucky. They mucked around and yelled and carried on all afternoon today, it was lovely to hear. I'm thinking perhaps we'll turn the bloody thing off more regularly. Emily is growing up though. Josh chucked a wobbly in the shopping centre when we were at the coast, when just Em and he were together. Later, she came up to me and hugged me and said "I'm sorry for everything bad I've ever done". And she's had some shockers of tantrums in public!
Harley had ear mites, we've been treating her at home with oil but if she's no better tomorrow it's off to the vet, and I've noticed Max is having some mobility problems. There is a cupboard in the laundry where he sleeps, it's only about five inches off the floor and he likes to put his mattress in there but yesterday I noticed him having trouble jumping up even that small height. He was after a bone, and I lifted him up and he got it and got down, but it's worrying me. We've never had an animal into old age.
I cooked a rich beef curry today, with raita and lemon and saffron rice and made an Indian rice pudding which was interesting. I used some of the rosewater Em and I bought a while back and never knew what to do with.

I always find it interesting what we can do without when we have to! Good for you all, though I'll miss you if you're offline for too long!
I hope your move goes smoothly. xo
