Hair Dos and Castration

I love my hairdresser here in town, I really do, I have had some really nice results from her in the past, and I love going there, I feel so comfortable and always have a nice chat and get all the local gossip etc.  But the last few cuts I've had have been dodgy and the last time she coloured my hair was a bit of a disaster, some of it my fault as I decided to go blonde all over instead of having foils done.  I wouldn't dream of going to another salon in this town, I couldn't look her in the face when I saw her down the street.
I took the kids to Wagga on Wednesday, it was their school swimming carnival, just another bullying opportunity, only in swimmers.  I should have learned by now though.  Josh is not a good shopper and it was hot, it's a looong drive (200 km round trip) and I was a bit stressed with city driving and trying to get everything done that I had to get done, the kids were tired and cranky and I was ready to turn around and come home.  But I got my hair cut at the no frills place in Wagga, I have been going there on and off for 15 years and have never had a bad haircut there and this time was no exception.  The hairdresser did exactly what I asked, and she gave me some good tips about caring for my unruly locks and I came away very happy.  I just hope I don't run into Moira in the street while it's still so short and obviously not cut her by her!
I managed to do most of what I had to do, in spite of the kids.  Got Em a really nice pinky/mauve rug for her room which really goes with the walls and her bedding colours.  Got some bedside lamps for my room, a couple of tops for me, and some cosmetics for both Em and me.  Did a grocery shop in Coles, Emily and I were amazed at the variety there that we don't have here.  A lot of exotic imported ingredients.  We got a bottle of rosewater, not sure what we'll use it for yet.  We had lunch at the pub, and looked around for Em's new phone for her birthday and couldn't find one that we could lay by.  She wanted a Mac computer but we couldn't justify the cost of it when it doesn't really do anything that a pc wouldn't do, just double the price and a smaller screen so we talked her into getting an iPhone 5 instead.  She lives in her phone, like I do, so she'll at least get the use out of it, and Josh can have her old iPhone 4s.
I took Scout to have his operation yesterday morning.  He had to fast from 6pm the night before (could have water) and poor little man couldn't understand why Harley and Max could have breakfast and he couldn't.  They ate outside but he could see them.  He didn't like the car trip in his carrier.
But once inside, we had to wait a while, he settled down and was so good.  They took him away and I went off and did some shopping.  At lunchtime I rang to see how he was and they said we could come and get him.  They had originally said he would be there till late afternoon, but he came out of it so well they let him go early.  All the girls were smitten by him, he's such an engaging little fellow.  He seemed fine, no ill effects, had a good meal (I bought him some gourmet cat fish stuff) and slept for a while.
He has a little shaved patch on his front leg where the needle went in and the green on his ear is where they tattooed him to show he is desexed.
When I rang at lunchtime the girl on the phone said "He's having a castration isn't he?"  The word shocked me a bit, I prefer to use gentler terms.....
Anyway he's back to his old self this morning, running around and getting into mischief as he should be.  We made an appointment for Harley to have hers done on the 22nd.
So after much nagging, Emily finally got her hair done yesterday, at our hairdresser here.  She was keen to get a fringe, and I wasn't happy about it, but she did it, and got her hair coloured as well, they did three different tones and it looks really good, and the fringe looks good too, just hope she can maintain it and it doesn't become a pain in the bum to look after.
The inlaws are threatening to call in tomorrow.  That whole family are hopeless at communicating even the simplest of details so I have no idea when they are arriving, but if I have something else I need to do I won't be waiting around for them.  How hard is it to give someone an ETA?  Hillbillies.

You both look lovely with your new hair...I had a best friend who was a hairdresser - she sent me out looking like a boxhead one time - was so hard to hide from her when I got my hair cut - used to do it if visiting the kids...and say it was on a whim.
