I Love This Town

We have had three house fires in the last month, one resulted in a fatality on Saturday afternoon, and another that totally destroyed a well known man's house on Monday.  The stories of bravery, an off duty rural fireman who tried to save the man and ended up with severe cuts to his leg that required four hours of surgery, the neighbours and passers by who tried to get into the house to get to the elderly man, the wonderful community support that "Stewie" the one who lost his house just up the road from us, has had, is heartwarming.  I know this would probably happen in many communities but it makes me proud of my own.  I have often felt isolated and lonely since we left Sydney to move to the country but you get back what you give and I want to start giving.
We finally did our Christmas shopping today and I'm feeling a lot better about Christmas now.  It won't be the lavish ones we've known in the past but it will be good.  We drove up to Young this afternoon to get the kids' present, we haven't been able to go anywhere lately due to financial thingies, so it was nice, we had Maccas for dinner, couldn't remember the last time we did that.  Phill's job seems secure, the rumours were a bit off it seems, and the company is only in danger of being bought by another company and that is fine with us.
Josh got sick during the night and vomited over the side of his bed.  I just told him to get in with me, Phill was at work and Josh slept late and didn't go to school.  I am still crook and couldn't face cleaning up his floor (thank Goddess we have floorboards in almost every room here).  Phill got home and cleaned it up.  My hero!  Josh was fine and didn't have any more nausea, I am wondering if he got a bug from something he ate at school.  Em and he had the same for dinner the night before and she was fine, as were we.
Yikes, it's after midnight.  The world didn't end today (obviously) and life is good.  I have to be up at 4 to take Phill to work.  Josh and I have been watching tv and the time got away from us.

Poor Josh, hope he is feeling better now.

Sorry to hear about the fire but glad the man was saved.

Community spirit is amazing when people are made aware of it. Its a shame that in so many cases it only shows up in a crisis. Becoming a part of your community is a wonderful idea.

I am slowly getting into the xmas spirit. The smaller we make it each year the better it becomes. I think less is best when it comes to material things. Family, food and togetherness is far more important and it turns out far more fun for all. We are planning on a beach trip with friends this year as our extended family are away. And then a bbq later in the day. NO fuss, lots of relaxation and fun. My kind of day. :-)

Have a beautiful day lovely lady. Hugs xoxox
