Christmas Eve is Here

I got up to extricate the kitten from Emily's tip of a room to put him on the litter tray, then got hungry and did a Nigella and raided the fridge.  So I'm sitting here at 1.40am Christmas Eve munching on a chicken skewer and listening to the crossing bells which have been going for an hour and a half.  They must have malfunctioned (obviously).  Lucky the council yard and the weirdo neighbours with the wanking Santa are the only ones who are close.
Phill and I are going to nip into Wagga this morning (only a 200km round trip!) to finish our Christmas shopping before the kids notice we're gone.
I am surely counting my blessings this Christmas, for many reasons, even though I once again look like Ronald McDonald after attempting to streak my hair yesterday.
Phill and I got in the pool yesterday arvo and although it was like a bath, SO hot here, it was nice.  Then we had a bbq.  Tonight we are making pizza I think.  A far cry from the old days when Christmas Eve was a formal hot turkey dinner.  I got Mr Turkey out of the fridge to thaw out and I've decided to do a glazed ham this year.  We're going to do a Lime and Macadamia one, then let it rest and have it warm, or even cold, then cook the turkey.
Yikes need to get the pork and veal mince and the chipolatas out of the freezer too.
Little Scout is just the best kitten, everyone is totally in love with him and we fight over him but he needs to socialise with all of us, Emily is a kitten hog and tries to keep him with her all the time so it's a constant battle.
Fucking crossing bells still going, I'm going to walk over there and disconnect them or something.
