Rainy Thursday

I think Josh enjoyed his birthday.  We had plenty to eat, the sausage rolls didn't turn out too well, but the chipolatas were great as was everything else.  I didn't even make the crab cakes, I might do that tonight or even on the weekend.
Fairy bread, a silly nod to childhood parties but it all got eaten.

Sushi, a barstard of a thing to make but it's healthy.

The cake tasted lovely, such an easy, no bake idea.

So today I'm going to rest a bit, it's still drizzly and grey.  All I really have to do is take Josh to school and do some washing.  I think I'll heat up some lamb curry that's in the freezer and microwave some rice and vegies for us.  There's some salt and pepper squid in the freezer too, Josh can have that with chips and salad and Emily can go jump.  She carried on the bullshit until late last night when finally she decided to acknowledge her brother's existence and then kept him up too late knowing he has exams again today.  There's going to be a curfew set on school nights, and I will enforce it.  Just because she wants to sit in her room and amount to nothing every day doesn't mean she's going to drag him down with her.  I'm still angry and disappointed in her, but what else is new?
We talked to Barry last night, it was his birthday as well, the first since Dot died and I sent him a card and made sure we made contact with him.  He got very drunk on Tuesday and didn't even go to work yesterday and I honestly can't say I blame him at all.  It has only been ten months or so since she died and he's down there in Adelaide away from his own kids and family.  They are all trying to convince him to go back to where they all are in NSW and I think it's the best thing he could do.  He's coming to visit in December, we're looking forward to seeing him.

15! My goodness - where did those years go? Your friend Barry its early days yet and hard to move because the place where you were happy holds you - but hopefully as the years pass he may move close to family - for me family is just about all - spent this arvo helping Ali weed and it was just nice to talk as we worked...a simple pleasure but one I missed out on for ages
