School Begins for 2012

I woke up with the old anxiety, I knew Josh was dreading going back to school.  And it's especially hard now that Emily doesn't have to go.  But when I woke him up he said his alarm hadn't gone off and he'd wanted to get up at 7 instead of the normal 8am.  I like to let him sleep as long as he can and it doesn't take him long to get ready.  I made him a cheese omelette and he seemed happy and positive and I felt better when I dropped him off.  I came home and actually got a lot of work done in the house, hung three loads of washing, cleaned the bathroom (boy did it need it), and the toilet and the kitchen and swept and washed the floors.   Then I went down and got my hair cut (boy did IT need it!). They actually laughed at me I was so woolly.  I feel so much better now.  Then Em and I did some grocery shopping and got some art supplies for her.  I finally got onto the distance high school and it looks like she has been accepted but probably won't receive her lessons for another couple of weeks.  The teacher I spoke to was really nice and very helpful, if all the teachers are like her we'll be fine.  She assured me Em wouldn't be behind.  I just worry what she's going to do, she's already been out of school for several months.  I got two titles for the year 11 reading list so I'll get those and she can read those while she waits.  She was up and dressed when I got back from dropping Josh at school which impressed me.
When we picked him up he seemed happy enough and said the day hadn't been as bad as he'd expected, and seemed still quite positive.  He has gone up in most classes and is in the top science class.  Later he and Em had words about something and he broke down crying and said he'd really had a horrible day and the kids are still bullying him.  I'm not sure what the real story is, Josh is really sensitive, not a tough boy at all.  I asked did he want me to go up to the school but he said no that would just make things worse.  He does tend to be a drama queen, and at the end of the day he simply has to go to school, he can't do distance ed like Em because he wouldn't meet the criteria and it's not the right thing for him anyway.  He will just have to learn a way to deal with it.  He cheered up and soon they were playing together again, we had a little first day of school party like we do every year and then I sorted four baskets of washing that has sat there for days.  I cooked dinner, meatloaf for Josh and me and Em had a crispy chicken salad.  I was absolutely exhausted.  It was so good to get on with my work with Phill not here, but it really took it out of me, and couldn't even finish my dinner.  I went and had a hot bath and feel a bit better now but I won't be long out of bed.
So another school year begins, I can't believe Emily is now a senior, in year 11 and Josh is in year 9.  I still remember so clearly their first days of school, where do the years go?
I did something really stupid, so stupid I'm not even going to write it down, but that husband that I whinge about and say awful things about didn't get angry, in fact he was quite sweet about it.  I can't figure him out sometimes, and I know I can be difficult to live with as well, perhaps we deserve each other.
I sent off the application and enrolment forms to the distance school so hopefully it won't be too long before that gets underway and Emily will be gainfully occupied every school day.

And so the journey begins again! Hope Josh settles in ok. Heres a newsflash for you. My little lovelies are going to school too! Daddy has decided they NEED to try it. We are liaising with the school next week to decide which classes etc they will take. Neither are too keen but neither are really stressed about it either. Maybe they will like it? Hmmmm I am having mixed feelings myself but trying to be positive for their sakes. I do really hope they like it. I think its going to be a bit harder for Zak as he has not really been to school much other than kindy. Yikes. Poor school. LOL

Trish....don't go saying that in Grade 11 you are a Senior too loud or all the kids in the states will be running away to Australia. In the states, you are a Senior in Grade 12. ;0)

lucky for our kids here, they have a zero policy on bullying..they get expelled for bullying.
