A Lovely Day in the Park

Yes I know I'm biased but isn't he the most beautiful little boy?  And SMART.  He turned two in October.  His mother had taken him on the swing and then came back and later I took him over there.  I put him in the baby swing and he started fiddling with the side of it.  I was about to start pushing him without the safety bar across him.  But he knew!  He knows his colours and talks so well for his age.
Em let him hold her I Phone and he knew how to work it, sliding and pressing the screen.  "Angry Birds!" he said.  Em and Josh were amazing with him, they took care of him most of the afternoon, so careful of his safety and so engaged with him, I was SO proud of them.  More patience than I have.  Phill took Harvey up to the playground at the other end of the park and Emily and Josh went with him and gave Ali (and me and my sister) a much needed break.  That little boy is like the energizer bunny he just didn't stop all day.
Three of my favourite boys.  The fourth and fifth (Jake and Nick) weren't there.
Sisters.  I am the youngest.  And the biggest!
My darling boy.
And my beautiful firstborn, Alison Rose.
We really had a lovely afternoon, although it was so hot.  Ali looked tired and no wonder, 24 weeks pregnant and running around after Harvey especially now she's on holidays (she's a teacher).
I always like spending time with my sisters, my sister Jan is SO much like Mum in personality, it's no wonder they have always clashed.  Just like me with my second child Amanda, we're so alike and we have clashes too.
They all came back to our cabin for a while afterwards and I gave Ali her slow cooker.  I hope it helps her, especially later when the new baby is born.
Phill and I were sooo tired tonight.  We had to go out and buy supplies and got pizza delivered for dinner.  I am sure people point at us when we go out in Sydney and say "Yep, Country Bumpkins" as we always get so excited to see shops and things in the supermarket that we just can't get at home.  And I grew up in Sydney!
After dinner the kids and I went in the pool, there are two here.  It's a nice park, the cabins would have been beautiful when they were new but are a bit shabby in places and could do with an upgrade, but for the price it's pretty good.
We didn't get to the birth certificate thing as the office was closed until January 16th.  I haven't phoned Kate to tell her yet, I'll worry about that when we get home.
Parramatta and Penrith have changed so much.  I have lived in both places years ago and used to be able to find my way around. Not so much now though.  Phill drove like a maniac and the kids and I were traumatised by the time we got here.  Needless to say I will be driving home.  We might not get there fast, but we'll get there.
So we're all happily tired and ready for bed.  Phill is watching a movie on his computer in the bedroom (through his eyelids) and the kids are watching some crap on tv and I am sitting here at the breakfast bar.  Not sure what we are doing tomorrow but I'm hoping we'll get to see Ali and Harvey and also Matt.  So glad we made the trip and I need to do it more often.  It was hard to see that Harvey (of course) didn't know who I was when he first saw me.  He warmed up later and knew I was Granny but I want him to recognise me and know me.  I need to be a Granny to him.
This evening we found a possum on top of the air conditioning unit in the cabin next door.  So cute, but so feral.
When we got back from the pool the sun had set and he/she was gone, off foraging or whatever they do.
Inside the cabin.
