Late Night - Alone at Last

The "mouse" on my laptop has died and I'm using an old fashioned one but at least it works.  I'm lost without my computer I love having my very own, hard to believe we shared one desktop among the five of us for so long!
Everyone is in bed and it's so nice to have some alone time which has been sorely lacking, but it's amazing what we can get used to.  Josh will start back at school in a week and life will take on a new, but hopefully structured, rhythm.  I got over my hissy fit of Friday, we have to make the best of things and just try to get along for all of our sakes.  And yes the children know all too well of the problems between us, very hard to hide from 15 and 14 year olds, but I'm honest with them and they know how hard he is to live with (and how hard I can be to live with as well!)
Tonight we bbqed, I did the old pork fillet recipe, didn't have five spice so I made up my own and it was actually better and not so aniseedy.  Made a Japanese inspired (no not INFESTED Emily) salad, with pickled ginger and shredded nori and the dressing of sushi seasoning with radish, lettuce, cucumber and spring onion.  Did a salad of tomato, feta and fresh oregano dressed with some EVO and red wine vinegar and my potato, bacon and egg salad.  We got some gorgeous sour dough bread with garlic and olive oil which we all loved.  I should try making sour dough again.
It's so windy here, it blew a gale all last night and the kids and I (Phill was at work) heard all sorts of scary noises outside.  So I'm tired tonight, we sat and watched the new Puss in Boots movie, but it was mind numbingly boring and I left them to it and went to watch tv in the bedroom.  Such a great character in Shrek but I think these moviemakers need to know when enough is enough.  I was going to settle down in bed and read the new autobiography I have on my Kindle but it's flat again.  I think I've figured out the problem, my oldish computer wasn't charging it properly and the charging computer needs to stay plugged into power while it charges which could take 4 to 6 hours and I don't think it's ever had a full charge since I got it so I'm leaving it on Phill's computer for tonight.  Apart from all that I really love it, I will do a lot more reading now I have it (and pay a lot less overdue fees at the library).
The woman I sent the book back to in Gunnedah wrote me a letter and enclosed a cheque to reimburse me for the bloody postage.  That just ruined it, I almost didn't put my return address on the parcel for that reason, it was an act of kindness I didn't want to be reimbursed.  The letter was the worst part, she went on about how racist and sexist the book was (yeah it was written in like 1898!) and how she wouldn't be passing it down to her grandkids blah blah.  Not my problem lady, I just thought I was doing something nice.  I tore up both the letter and the cheque.  Some people just don't get it.  She could have just said "thank you" and then chucked out the book.  Oh well I tried and my heart was in the right place.
Nice surprise tonight, the big tub where we have the sage growing is sprouting tarragon as well. We had both planted at the old house but thought the tarragon died.  I have plans for the tarragon!
I really should go to bed but the peace and quiet is so nice with everyone sleeping.

I predict a shopping trip in the near future for you. ;0)
And I get the "It Takes two To Tango", referring to your last whinge, except that some of us sit out too many dances. :0( BUT of course...you already know that.
Life is a dance we all do to the beat of a different drum.
I respect any decisions you make.
You know what's best for you in your circumstances.
Same with me.

My sentiments about the woman that you returned the lost book to are..... She'd screw up a good fuck! ;0)
(((hugs)))Pat
