Woolshed Retreat, our cabin.
View from the loungeroom out to the verandah and the beautiful muddy River Murray.
My silly boy in the cabin. Cabin is a misnomer really, it's bigger than our house! Almost.
Onto the PS Canberra we go.
There is a fascination and a romance about the paddle steamers that will never leave me. I love them, and the history that is attached to them.
The Pevensey, the steamer which appeared in the forementioned mini series "All the Rivers Run" that we watched while we were here. They renamed it first the Jane Eliza, then the Philadelphia (after the heroine) in the show.
Yes he is doing that thing from that movie, except it's the BACK of the boat. Dill.
A bloody big Murray Cray. Stuffed or something.
Our cabin from the riverbank.
Yes, once again we were the only ones in the pool. And my two piece swimmers kept falling off, and up and I think I'll go back to the one piece.
Late afternoon fishing off the bank. Em in nightie and pj pants. Of course.
Our boat, the Flying Billy. We love her.
My little fisherpeople. Yes, yes it IS big enough.
And my big fisherman. A very happy fisherman.
Today I drove into Echuca on my own while the others went out in the boat again. I bought the book I've been wanting and a few groceries and came home and spent a lovely peaceful afternoon reading and pottering. While I made a cup of tea a big old kookaburra came and sat on the verandah railing. I got closer and closer to the window and snapped him and he wasn't spooked. I sat back down on the sofa with my tea and he was so close, probably only eight feet away and looked right at me and opened his big beak. Funny old thing. Then he flew off and berated the magpies in the next yard with his distinctive "laugh".
Phill and the kids mustn't have come home for lunch, it's nearly 4pm and they are still out, I bet they're hungry, we're going out for pizza tonight, our last night. The time has gone so fast but it's been lovely and so relaxing, for me anyway, and I know they've had a ball on the boat.
I'm off out for a walk along the river and to wait for the sound of the engine of our boat that will tell me they're coming back.

You should do some research on the Spiritual messages of the kookaburra. Sounds like it was more than just a routine visit.
Here's a great place to start

I agree with Dark Mother - sometimes a bird or animal thats wild will just come right up to you and sit and watch you and if you take the time it feels that something really beautiful is happening
