Cold Rainy Night

It happens every year but every year we express surprise.  The temp got down to minus 3 night before last which is as cold as it gets in mid Winter.  Not complaining though, it's nice to be warm and dry in here.
Talked to Kate today and she got our cards in the mail and my gift in her bank account.
My oldest sister rang me from Boston right while I was rushing to get dressed to take Em to the doctor but it was nice to hear from them.  Both my big sisters are overseas right now.
Emily's eye looked worse to me after five days of chemist drops (that the doctor recommended).  Phill had taken her on Monday and I saw the same doctor today.  Nice young man but looks like he's right out of uni and still learning.  That's okay, he was sensible enough to call a more senior doctor to give a second opinion on Em's eye which I really admired and appreciated.  There is a sketch on an old Aussie comedy show where someone presents to a GP with somehing minor and he suggest to them that their quality of life will be compromised and that they should "consider their options" ie euthanasia.  I was saying this to Emily in the doctor's room while he buggerised around looking for something.  She didn't understand it so I was explaining it as we walked out and right as I said the word "euthanasia" I looked up to see that we were in the waiting room full of elderly patients who just glared at me.  Time to hit the road.
One of our taxi drivers flirts with me and he drove us from the medical centre to the taxi rank.  We were joking all the way, and when we pulled up a woman was sitting with a full trolley of groceries with her head resting on the handle.  I said "Oh well you won't have to worry about her, she's dead".  He replied "I hope not, that's my wife".  Uh oh.  Time to hit the road.  He ended up taking us home and I asked if it really was his wife and he assured me it was, but I'm still not sure.  It was funny though.
The chemist took one look at Em holding her hand over her painful eye and made some reference to Cyclops.  Must have been jokesters day in Coota today.
Kate liked the photos I posted on Facebook (same as the ones I posted here earlier) but she said they weren't embarrassing at all and challenged me to find some that were.  I spent ages in the shed looking for some but to my surprise found there were none.  Plenty of Emily and Phill and Josh but none of her.  Hmm.  I know she is gorgeous and elegant but surely after 22 years.  I found a couple of baby bum shots but that's about it.  Posted a whole album on FB. She's out enjoying herself tonight, as she should be.  This is the fifth birthday we have been apart and it doesn't get any easier.  I know, I know, I was married with two kids when I was 22.  She would have left home by now in any case but it doesn't stop me wishing we were together.
We're planning a week away at Echuca in the school holidays, we found a nice resort with a boat ramp into the Murray river so that will be really nice.  We've stayed there before years ago and even though it was good then, they've upgraded it.  Not sure if we'll be there for my birthday but I couldn't think of a nice place to spend it if we are.

I am laughing at all the jokes, and I love that it just kept on happening throughout your day, hehe. Home Em's eye gets better too, nothing worse than a bung eye.
Echuca is amazing, we went there in December I think it was, and it was still as wonderful as when I was a kid,yet yes, it is upgraded. The kids loved going on the steamboat, they had a science class on it for the kids to enjoy too.

I hate it when the Doctor looks like they are only 12!

Cold nights make for funny people in Coota hey, must remember that.

Ha. So funny. I would have loved to be in that waiting room when you scared the bejesus out of the old folks with your euthanasia talk.

Have to do a catch up, looks like have missed some things - will visit later today - people are not amused as well when I make my usual comment about being on the right side of the grass, either.
