And Friday Rolls Around Again

The weeks are flying by lately.  But happily for the most part.
Josh has been home sick most of the week and I let them both off school (Emily has been an absolute angel in that department) today as Josh had his appointment with the eye specialist in Wagga and I had to pick Phill up from work in Junee and it would have been stupid to add another 100km to that journey.  So we did a bit of shopping, Em and I split up from the boys, they are both horrible to shop with for different reasons.  I got Emily a pair of jeans and a cute tank top with a grey shrug type top to go over it, as well as some "bling" as she calls it, costume jewellery, in JJs her favourite clothes shop.  Got Josh a Transformers t shirt (grown up one) as well.  Em and I both got some ballet flats and a top each in K Mart.  It was so warm today she had to get out of her boots and put on the new shoes.  We had lunch, they had crap and I got myself a lovely wholemeal chicken, avocado, lettuce and red onion sandwich.  I've lost about 4kg in a few weeks, my jeans are hanging off me and I want to keep up the good losses.
Josh's appointment went well, the specialist was a lovely fellow and explained what is wrong with Josh so clearly.  It's basically a weakness in the eye muscles which he has given him exercises for and wants to see him again in six months and if it hasn't corrected with the exercises then we'll have to look at surgery.  He also has a weakness in one of the eyes itself but he says to only worry about that if Josh gets floaters and other weird things in his vision.  So we're relieved about that.
We got home around dinner time and I wanted something healthy so got the last salmon tail in Woolies.  It was a good size and I was quite happy to split it with Phill but he didn't want to.  I suggested he get a steak and I'd cook it for him but no.  Why anyone would want this.
When they could have this
I don't think he ate all of that packaged shit, I hope he didn't.  I don't know what is wrong with him that he seems to want to eat himself into an early grave in spite of my best efforts.
I marinated my salmon in fresh lime juice, evoo, garlic and Cajun seasoning then char grilled it, and made my garlic potatoes (one potato) and a salad with a simple oil and ww vinegar dressing.  Kids had nachos which wasn't too bad as the sauce was based on beans and just topped with a bit of low fat cheese, and Josh had a little bit of canned chilli beef and beans on his.
So now I'm sitting up in bed about to watch "Australia" on tv (the movie with our Nicole and Hugh) but I don't think I'll last, I'm half asleep already and it's only 8.44pm.
It was such a beautiful day today, the canola is starting to spread its bright yellow carpet all over the paddocks and even though we see it every year it never fails to impress us.  I was driving and we saw a little crop dusting plane in the distance and I started to tell Josh a story about how we were driving to Wagga once, just the two of us when he was really little and a crop duster flew right in front of our car.  Just then the bloody plane did exactly that, right across our path, it was so funny.  I told the kids that their grandfather used to be a crop duster after the war.
Goodness, this movie really was made for the overseas market wasn't it?

Nope! I can't work out why he would want to eat that either. I would be much happier eating the food you cook. Always sounds delicious!

You are one of the few people to express how i felt about the movie "Australia" I thought it was contaminated by political correctness especially with the PM Rudd bit just after the main title...I went with a couple of friends - both Pommies - they raved - I thought it was expensively and artificially made crap
