Why Can't it Always be Like This?

Had a good sleep and was ready to get up at sixish.  The house is so warm.  Made myself a cup of tea and fed the cats.  Noah is so vociferous.  I had to put him back outside so he wouldn't wake Josh.  So I'm sitting up in my comfy bed with my second cup watching the Today show and feeling happy and peaceful, such a contrast to the last months, and couple of years to be honest.  The challenge is to keep this going once Emily gets home.  We have to put some strict rules in place, huge changes but I believe it can be done.  We need calm, order and routine.  It's really good that everyone who is now involved in her situation is emphasing the need for her to get back to school.  I have to contact the school today to get them to send her some work to do (wish me luck with that!)

It's so nice to be able to use my laptop without the charger being plugged in all the time.

Loved cooking our first proper meal in my kitchen last night, the stove, pantry and fridge are right there making it all so easy.  In the old house the fridges and dishwasher were in a little room, perhaps the original laundry, off the kitchen.  I haven't had a dishwasher in my actual kitchen since Western Australia.

I'm thinking I won't even go to the old house at all today.  It's so cold and miserable there.  We still have a week till we hand the keys back and if need be we can just pay an extra week's rent, I don't think she's in any hurry to let it again.  I have a lot to do here, getting the kitchen fully set up is my first priority.  I think I just need a bit of a break from chaos.  Phill wants to go down to Albury on the weekend but I don't want to go.  I spoke to Emily on the phone briefly last night, but she didn't have much to say to me.  I told her there would be big changes when she came home as we just can't live the way were were living anymore.  She perked up when I told her about the kittens and what we've named them but later got upset when Phill was talking to her.  Let her be upset, I'm harder than Phill, but also I am the one who has dealt with her bullshit on my own for years when he has been away.  And to be honest I think a lot of his reaction to her is more about his own inability to accept that any fruit of his loins could be so difficult and horrible, it's an ego thing with him.

Time for a shower and then getting Josh some breakfast and off to school.

I am so jealous that you have underfloor heating- its just the best, we used to have it in our old house. I'm glad you are loving your new home you sound so happy for someone who has just moved house, unpacking can be very tiresome. But then you are having a break from Em at the moment.
Its always ego with men!
