We had such a nice time watching the Royal Wedding last night, a bit of a respite from all the doom and gloom both in the world in general and in our little world. I don't think people who haven't grown up in Commonwealth countries quite get the attachment we have to the royals, it might not make sense but there it is. I watched a doco yesterday about them and was surprised to learn how much they do for charities both in the UK and in poorer countries. William in particular is a patron of a charity for homeless people, and the concert he and his brother Harry organised for the 10th anniversary of their mother's death raised something like 5 million pounds.
I was amused by the comments from my children. Emily said "What is all the fuss about? We don't even know them". And Josh was sending the whole thing up in his inimitable way and Emily asked what would happen if the Queen suddenly stood up and yelled "Faggot!!!" Then streaked through the church wearing only a crown. (I just gave birth to them I don't explain them).
But by the time the bride got out of her car Emily was hooked and loved the whole thing.
Emily got in our car after school yesterday all smiles and declared she "loves school". Clutching a sheaf of merit certificates. She's like Jekyll and Hyde and I'm more convinced than ever that we need to get to the bottom of her wild mood swings before things can get better.
Most of the merit cards on the fridge are Em's. Go figure.

I don't know them from Sam Hill either ( as the expression in the States goes ), but I love weddings. :0)
Weddings and births.
Some day Emily will meet her Prince Charming.
I agree .... she needs to be DX'd and the HELP begun...the sooner the better.
Ha Ha I can only imagine what alot of of pre teen and teens had to say about the wedding hoopala.
Myself...I was beaming right along with the beautiful Catherine. :0)
i thought it was pretty neat..
The wedding was a wonderful Royal spectacle, I cried all the way through it- thinking how much my Mum would have loved to watch it, she was so happy about their engagement.
Maybe you are onto something with Em, getting her checked out isn't going to do any harm.
