Beautiful Day

That's my little kitchen taken from where I'm sitting here on the couch.  Doesn't do the morning sun justice at all, it's just lovely out there and I'm off out into it as soon as I finish this cup of tea.
It's still cool enough for me to be in my warm dressing gown and I love that, hope it stays that way for Christmas because I'd really like to eat outside this year under the bottlebrush tree.
Phill is home today unfortunately because I wanted to drive up to Young today to get him a couple of things.  He is the hardest, most fussy person I've ever had to buy gifts for.  It borders on the rude actually, there have been times when he's returned presents I've given him and exchanged them.  I wouldn't stand that now, it's just bad manners (unless it was something in the wrong size etc).  I got him the Blu Ray player he wanted and that came with six movies (most of which he won't like of course).  But that is all that is under the tree for him.  He actually went to some trouble for me this year which I appreciate and I do want to get him something he wants.  I know he wants a new Ipod and the Nano now has a touch screen and while it's not as fancy as the Touch, it would be perfect for what he wants, just to listen to music during downtimes at work.  He sat on a train for five hours the other night just waiting for clearance, how crazy is that?  The Nano is on sale at BigW.  I also saw a deer shooting Wii game that I think he would enjoy and the kids agreed so I will probably get him that as well.  But how to get out of the house without him is the trick.  I'd love a day out to myself as well.  These early mornings before everyone gets up are a lifesaver for me, I have to have time on my own or I get very prickly.  The kids could do with a day out I guess, but it's their choice to stay holed up in their rooms when they could be out and about on their scooters or at the pool.  I want to take them for a day out to Wagga after Christmas to the movies and then to the Oasis, the aquatic centre.  I love when they go to the movies because then I get a couple of hours to wander around town by myself.  I think they might see Gullivers Travels though which I wouldn't mind seeing myself.
I haven't told anyone about the stash I have in my bank account.  Phill thinks we're broke and if he knew about the money he'd have some ideas on what to do with it for sure so I won't be telling him.  But we will have a few luxuries for Christmas that we wouldn't normally have had and I feel really good about having saved up for that.  And he will actually have a surprise or two now to unwrap on Christmas morning, whether he likes them or not.
I made the best lamb curry for dinner last night in the slow cooker.  I added a bunch of nutmeg and cinnamon to it this time and I think it improved it.  Had enough to freeze for another meal too.  I love those sachets of cooked rice that just need microwaving.  Sooo easy.  Especially for fried rice.  Can't decide what to have tonight, might just do easy Mexican.
Okay I can't take it anymore I have to go out and find out what that truck is doing in the street out the front.  Off to enjoy the morning sun outside.

Like yourself ..I think I am doing the right thing and feel good doing it only to get shot down.
My hubby has always told me he wants nothing for Christmas.
He never had an interest in electronics...just TV.
Was happy when I bought the flat wide screen tv ( even though our old one worked) as he can see it better with his poor vision.
I thought he would be furious of that purchase I made.
Surprise, surprise. :0)
Some men just like to be grouches!!! :0(

"I have to have time on my own or I get very prickly" Thats exactly how I am - even living out here alone...Don knew that and used to tell the nurses who came in the mornings at 7am to leave me alone - they used to wander about at will as if it was a public building - I'd be hiding in the kitchen with my cup of tea and book for a half hour before the world intruded - so in the end I would leave the front door open and Don asked them to go straight to the bedroom and give me some peace - so glad so i know how you feel
