This is the little wooden box Emily made me. I still haven't decided what to use it for. I'm thinking I might line it with felt or some velvetty fabric. Perhaps I could use it to store my deepest darkest secrets. Can you put secrets in a box? I think Peter Gabriel did.............on Mercy Street.............perhaps we shouldn't go there.
I had a piece of beef silverside roast that I got cheap, I was going to make some more taco meat until the ferals informed me that they prefer minced meat for their burritos and tacos. Fickle Ferals we'll call them.
So I decided to make it into pot roast, for all of us, and throw spoiling FFs to the wind (ie making seperate meals for us and them). I browned the peppered beef in some OO in a frypan, then put it in the slow cooker with a cup and a half or so of beef stock, lots of garlic, some dried mixed herbs and a splash of soy sauce. I cooked it on a bed on onions, parsnip and carrot. I'm the only one who likes pot roast here, I have always done it on the stove but this turned out perfectly, the meat was so tender and flavourful, the only thing I'd change next time is to lose the soy sauce and use worcestershire instead I think.
That's Phill's dinner waiting for him to come home to heat it up. I made Yorkshire puddings and they turned out beautifully considering my dicky oven. I did my crispy roast potatoes as well.
Well I just saw on the news that Wagga is flooding down the main street and the rain is torrenting down there. Bugger, and double bugger for the farmers.
Kids back at school tomorrow, then Friday and Monday will be their last day of term, of the year and I believe we're ending this school year on a positive note. IE, no arrests. No just kidding. I think persistence and consistence have been the keys to getting this far, and that will be the theme to be carried on into 2011.
Talked to my sister this morning, and then Mum later on to assure her that no, Cootamundra hasn't finally grown a river and we are quite safe and dry.
Off to sandbag the bed and put on the snorkel and flippers.

oh my Yorkshire pudding..nummy
I put buttons in those types of boxes.
The ones that come extra with a garment you buy or that has been cut off a piece of clothing that has seen better days. :0)
It's a very lovely box.
My great grandmother kept her beautiful crochet edging hankerchiefs in hers.
I'm sure you will find a good use too.
Good luck with the sandbagging - the food looks great as usual
