Just when you think political correctness can't get any sillier it does. That old school room song "Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree" which has the line "gay your life must be" has been changed by some obscure primary school in Victoria to "fun your lilfe must be". WTF? Gay meant something totally different forty and more years ago. Indeed, some unfortunate children born in the late fifties were given it as their name or middle name (guess what my middle name is?).
Rachel Taylor put up with violence for at least a year from her ex Matthew Newton? I have been subject to domestic violence in the past while in relationships with weak men. It only happened one time with each loser then I was out of there. It really disturbs me that even today, young and seemingly strong and independent women are putting up with this garbage. Why? And for this little coward to play the "mental illness" card is ludicrous. He managed to forge some kind of career in the television industry but can't seem to have a relationship with a woman without beating the crap out of her.
I have often tried to encourage my kids to combat schoolyard bullying with humour. It has worked on occasions and yesterday was a funny example. Some boy was ribbing Emily in the playground and at one point he leaned in and whispered some taunt in her ear. She jumped back (she hadn't heard what he'd even said) and said really loudly "No! I won't go out with you!!" The boy just stood there shocked while the whole playground erupted in laughter.
Another grey and gloomy morning. I have to drive Emily up to her mentor and try not to get bogged in the mud. Think I'll fly off to some tropical island. In my dreams.

followed you here from googiemomma's and i am just having a good little giggle about "wtf" about the word change of that song.. indeed!
and go emily! i wish i was that quick-thinking in my youth!
emily is such a smart girl..
We used to sing that song in elementary school and I loved it.Loved singing about a kookabura tree...sounded so exotic..can't believe they changed the words..how dumb
"fun your lilfe must be" thats not even p[roper English - you can't have "fun" times you can have funny times but fun was never meant to be used this way - what a wanker of a teacher that was...
Emily rocks
