It's All Good

My biggest worry today is whether it will indeed rain on my washing which I daringly hung on the outside line.  How lucky am I?  I am feeling well, although my arthritis has flared up again after a long time of having no pain.  I can't figure out what has triggered it, if it's dietary or just random.  I am taking my glucosamine/fish oil capsules religiously.  Might do some more research on that.
I seem to spend a lot of my life in the car, I had to drive Phill to Junee again for work, it's a 100km round trip, lucky I enjoy driving!  We didn't have to take Em out to Stock for mentoring day as Julie was in town and picked her up.  She took a big new canvas and some pots of acrylic paint that we got from the paint shop yesterday but Julie says they'll be having a different day today, getting a hay shed prepared which Emily will love.  She loves the art, but she loves mucking about on the farm just as much.  I'll say it again we're so, so lucky that the school put her in this programme.
I made a seafood risotto last night but it did not turn out well.  I normally enjoy risotto and love the ladling and stirring, it's really soothing but something went wrong.  I think if I ever made it again I'd buy the seafood separately rather than in the marinara mix from the supermarket (which had been frozen).
I've decided not to use those packet coating mixes for chicken drumsticks anymore.  For my 50th, at the last minute because I was worried there wouldn't be enough food (there was, there always is) I made up a marinade of soy sauce, garlic and sesame oil and just baked some drumsticks in that and they were the hit of the party, so that's what I'll do for the kids and I tonight, with a salad and curly fries.
It's freezing here today, I have both the heaters on, but all my work is done bar finishing off drying the washing and folding and putting away which I will do later this afternoon.  So I'm going to enjoy some downtime, watch a bit of tv and work on Em's rug.
This may not seem unusual for most of those who read this but trust me it is.  Today, just a while ago, Phill put in a request at work for TWO WEEKS HOLIDAY in late September.  I can't remember him ever, well maybe for our honeymoon, taking actual holidays from work.  He has taken bits and pieces of them when we've moved or when there's been a crisis with Emily and he had to come home from working away.  He has often cashed them in for various reasons.  But they have brought in new (and very sensible) regulations that say they have to take the holidays they are entitled to.  I am very happy, he'll be off work during the school holidays and can spend some quality time with his children that has been sorely lacking in the past couple of years.  We are going to Melbourne for my birthday and he is hoping we can go to Bourke in the first week, and I hope so too.
My boy is smart as a whip.  The other day Phill handed him the little remote control from the new heater and told Josh someone was on the phone for him, quick as a flash without missing a beat Josh took it and said "No Grandma I do NOT want to know what you're wearing and if you don't stop ringing up drunk I won't take your calls".  He is so funny and no it wasn't disrespectful to either of his Grandmas, he meant it as a "generic" Grandma.
And this morning my little Miss Fixit Emily Rose saw me struggling to put a new door handle on the pantry and took over and had it done in seconds.  I love having kids.  Wonder if they'll cook dinner?

I am glad you are going to have some family time together... sounds so good...I love your son sending up on the remote control - the kids were always quick on the uptake this way and still are - which makes for a lot of good healthy shitstir
