Julia Gillard will soon be sworn in as Australia's 27th Prime Minister and its first female prime minister.
I sit here watching Kevin Rudd give his concession speech, as he struggles with his emotions and I almost can't watch it and feel a bit sorry for him. But that is politics, it's hard and sometimes cruel but that's the way it is, and probably the way it has to be.
It's an important day in the history of this country. I wonder though how long she'll be in the Lodge? They're saying an election will be called for October but will Labour get back in? I guess that's why we have a new PM.
I took Emily up to her mentoring this morning, the past two times it has been raining or foggy. Julie lives in the most beautiful countryside, indeed all of the surrounding farmlands and bushland here are beautiful. It was a lovely morning and it felt like I was driving through a painting. Today I took lemons and oranges off our tree and some chillis. I love sharing our produce especially with Julie, who is doing such a wonderful thing for our girl. Next week I will take homemade lemon butter.
This is a Robert Wilson painting of farmland near Cootamundra.

that painting by Robert Wilson is beautiful. Really lovely. I saw on Twitter that you had a new PM - Julia Gillard. And it IS exciting isn't? That you can say to your daughters and grand daughters, yes you can be anything even PM - although I dont' understand the politics behind it at all ;-) but hopefully it is a good thing for Australia.

I love lemon butter more than anything. Shop bought is nothing compared to homemade.
I listened to Rudd's speech in my car yesterday and thought he sounded really emotional. He has achieved a lot, but I hope Gillard can really show them how its done...
