I worked all day in the house yesterday and got caught up on everything, I was exhausted last night, but cooked us a healthyish dinner of crumbed chicken breast, salad and oven fries. Got the kids off to school this morning did some shopping and came home and put chilli con carne in the slow cooker for dinner, and was finished everything else in the house by mid morning. I've even brought the washing in and put it all away! So at a loose end while I wait to collect the kids I took some photos. It's just beautiful here at the moment.
That's the view from the French doors in my room onto the front verandah. Phill put some of the hanging pots out there in the hot Summer and they are doing better than they were out the back.
My bed (and Teddy)
Josh's room, he has windows on two sides looking out onto the verandah.
Lounge room, the windows there look out onto the verandah too, and the side street. That's my chair by the window.
Dining room, that door goes out to the back yard, see how unfinished the paintwork around the window is? This house needs a LOT of work.
My little kitchen, there is a back door in there too (for fast access to my herbs!) The kitchen in the new house is even smaller, but nicer.
Dear little Scout loves sun puddles!
Looking from the back door to the crappy outside laundry. New house has a lovely one inside.
Birds eye chillis. The thyme needs to be pulled out but some oregano is growing in under it and I don't want to lose that.
Thai chillies (and cobwebs)
Entrance and up the long hall to the dining room, our room is on the left of this, Josh's door is first on the right, lounge room is second on the right, first door on the left is the silly room that doesn't make any sense and Em's room is further down next to the kids' bathroom.
So hope you liked the guided tour!
The chilli tastes good, I put some balsamic vinegar in it this time, as well as carrots, red onion, and pureed broccoli and cauliflower. Tomato paste, tin of chopped tomatoes, cumin, ground coriander and chilli, fresh garlic and some dried oregano, then later put in a tin of kidney beans and a couple of squares of dark chocolate. Kids will have it as nachos and I might just have mine as is with some rice and guacamole. I love being able to put the dinner on in the morning when I've got plenty of energy and then just serve it up at night with no fuss.
Well, time to go get the kids, Em has no classes tomorrow, Josh has half a day, then it's just Thursday and term one is over for another year.

I love getting a peek into your life and seeing where you live. Domesticity has been my life for so long that I find comfort in the familiar, everyday stuff. No matter how grand our plans and dreams, it's the little things like getting the laundry washed and sorted, meals cooked and flourishing herbs that will always give me huge satisfaction, I know it's the same for you too.
You are a great cook darling, I love how you plan your meals, make sure everyone that you love is getting a balanced diet - it's the sign of a great mum and wife,
Your house looks great - your bedroom is quite the boudoir too ;) I have a hideous bedroom right now but I hope to have a nicer one soon. Not a lot you can do in a pokey apartment - it's just a sleeping place but in the past I've loved making my bedroom a special place.
The line from your poem is magic - I hope you will start writing again? The way you describe it is perfect xxx
I love what you did to make your home look warm and inviting.
You have put so much of yourself into this home.
Thanks for giving of your time to invite us into your life.
You are AMAZING Trish!
(((hugs)))
Love the home!!!! and I love hearing you talk about your cooking and meals. Maybe someday i will just come down there to meet you!
Your homes are always made beautiful by you - they are homes. "I actually have three books filled with handwritten poetry from when I was about 14 to the age of 23 or so. " I too have three books of poems and in that same age group - and a smaller one I started not too long before Don was killed...funny that. Autumn is my favourite time and I love the line from you poem - thats how i used to write - this is too strange
