I felt a bit flat all day today, old and familiar feelings and self talk surfacing. It rattled me at first, I've been doing so well, sticking to my healthy eating, falling down on the exercise but keeping house keeps me moving when I don't get out for a walk or a swim. Still no alcohol, taking my supplements, plenty of water etc. But then I realised that I was aware of the feelings, that it's probably hormonal, and that I was coping with it by resting this afternoon and doing things I liked doing and not overreacting or attempting to self medicate as I have done in the past. I do know that talking to my oldest daughter, as I did yesterday due to Harvey's birthday, dredges up a lot of stuff for me, but that can't be helped, if she wants me to be a part of her children's lives I can't turn away from that, and I just need to learn to put the bad feelings aside and concentrate on what I can be as their grandmother in a positive way. I'm learning to keep my mouth shut and deal with my feelings myself rather than blabbing about them to anyone who will listen. I know when it's right to talk and when it isn't now, and who I can talk to when I need to.
Cool here today. Phill rang the real estate about the pool problem and they said they'd talk to the owner etc. Later he did some research online and managed to fix the problem himself so rang them back and told them not to bother. I don't care, I just want a clean pool!
I made Salmon Quiche tonight, what a great old recipe that is. Only Phill, Josh and I had it, it's Josh's favourite, and I was going to send the last piece to school tomorrow for his lunch but he wanted a second helping and I couldn't say no, it's so low fat and healthy and he ate lots of salad. I'll make him a curried egg sandwich tomorrow instead.
I have so much mint, we have two pots of it plus what is springing up in grave one. I did a bit of research on what I can do with it. I'm going to dry some for tea, and I made a jar of mint sauce, just chopped mint with apple cider vinegar poured over and a teaspoon of sugar. We have a nice lamb roast in the freezer so I'll try it out when we have that.
I went to bed at 9.30 last night and slept well, was up at 6.30ish intending to bake but there were a couple of muffins left for Josh's lunch from yesterday so I had the day off and will get back into it tomorrow. It's saving us a lot of money having him take lunch from home every day and it's so much healthier for him, I can't understand why school canteens can't offer only healthy choices. If rubbish isn't there the kids can't buy it.
I'm going to watch something funny on tv or YouTube tonight, haven't had a good belly laugh for ages (not counting the chuckle I always get from Yellow Dog Grannie's blog).
