Got two huge bills yesterday for electricity and gas. The electricity is a pain, it's $400 up on the same time last year in the previous house, and we are assuming it's the pool filter but geez. We made a mistake moving in here, we should have stuck to our guns and refused to leave until we found something more suitable but no good whingeing about it now, we're stuck in the lease till October and I really hope we can stay longer than that and get some use out of the freaking pool that we're paying through the nose for.
The gas is presumably the heating although again, the bill wasn't as high last year in the other house which also had ducted heating, but through the floors not in the ceiling like it is here. Granted this is a much bigger place but I think the heating is dodgy like the wiring. What a lemon any future buyers will get with this one!
I think I'll be leaving the heating off more, we all have electric blankets and tv in our rooms so that might be where we'll be sitting at night till the weather warms up.
Having said that though, Maxy is out in the laundry with his heater going full blast this morning, and loving it! It's only money after all and he's an old doggie now and deserves a few comforts.
Not much else to blog about, life is quiet and that's how I like it.
I made my Moroccan style lamb in the slow cooker yesterday and it was better than the first time I did it. Onions, garlic and ginger sauteed, then cubed lamb dusted with flour and Moroccan seasoning, some tomato paste then a tin of tomatoes, chicken stock, a cinnamon stick and a couple of diced carrots, and a tin of chickpeas half way through. Served it with couscous with pistachios and chopped dates cooked in chicken stock.
I made an olive oil treatment for my hair and it's calmed down a lot, why would anyone pay $$$ for commercial hair treatments? Some evoo, apple cider vinegar and lavender, rosemary and German chamomile essential oils, left it on under some plastic wrap for forty minutes or so and and washed it out. I'm happier with the blonde colour now I've fixed it myself. Still waiting to have "more fun" though.

we have the ability to round off our electric bill for the year..so it's pretty much the same cost every month..so spiking during hot months. etc.
