We got the kids little "Enigma" bears, there is an ice cream ad here where the boyfriend turns into a big soft teddy bear to show his "soft side" which the kids love and they had these bears free when you bought a pack of the ice creams so we got them one each (and now have a freezer full of ice creams which we need like a bloody hole in the head). And a chocolate heart and I made cards for them. Josh was so pleased when he got home from school and found his on his desk.
The prawn cocktails were cute, but could have done with a bit more Tabasco. The steaks turned out really well and the vegies were great too, we all enjoyed the meal.
People say Valentines Day is a commercialism of romance etc etc, but I think it's what you make it. We didn't buy into the expensive crapola yesterday, or feel pressured to do or buy certain things, we just had fun and loved each other and any day that focusses on that can't be bad.
Phill and I got in and cleaned up Emily's room, changed her sheets and sprayed all the bedding with lavender linen spray and washed all her clothes (they were mostly on the floor or shoved into the bottom of the wardrobe). She is very careless/destructive and breaks her lamps all the time. We went down to the Salvos and bought a pretty touch lamp for $4 and when Phill cleaned it up it looked like new.
The room will no doubt be trashed five minutes after she gets home later today but we did our best. She's such a little grub.
Phill had to get up to be at work by 2am and went to bed early in our bed while I stayed up a bit, and then decided to hop into Em's bed. Her sheets are awful. They are all pilled and so uncomfortable, I don't know where I bought them but she seriously needs some new ones. I know our newish sheets are 1000 thread count so I'm probably spoiled for comfort but hers are just terrible. I didn't last long in there and came back and slept like a baby in my own bed, but woke up at 4ish with my arm aching. I tend to walk about the house with my reading glasses on and bang into things and I think I must have chipped a bone in my elbow knocking it on a door frame or something, it's sore all the time. I got up and took some painkillers and will try to get some more sleep soon, Josh isn't going to school today because as soon as Phill gets home later this morning we're driving down to Albury to pick up Emmy Rose and bring her home. We're going to find somewhere to go swimming on the way home I think. Could care less about seeing the Hillbillies but Emily wants me to come so I will.
I've almost paid off our mini holiday next month and we're all so looking forward to that, especially to seeing little Harvey again, as well as my nephews' little ones.
Posted Mum's birthday card with a lottery pack and an SD card of photos for the digital frame my sisters are giving her. It suddenly occurred to me though that she will probably receive my package on Friday, before my sisters arrive on the weekend to take her out for her 85th birthday. She will say "WTF" when she sees the SD card. Well she won't say that, she doesn't swear....but she'll have no idea what it is. I will ring her and tell her to put it aside and all will make sense when the sisters get there. I put a whole lot of photos of Harvey and Jake on there that she wouldn't have seen, as well as some of us, not so many of me as she loves to point out that I'm getting old for some reason. Yeah, I'm not 85 though. ;)
