Phill went to work and booked off in Melbourne last night which meant a whole night of blissful uninterrupted sleep for me. It's amazing the difference in how I feel. I'll get another one tonight if all goes well. I was so tired last night, and my body was in shock from all the fibre and healthy food I've been eating. Josh usually takes himself into his room with his computer at some time in the evening but last night he was happy to sit and watch tv with me and while I would have loved to crawl into bed and watch and read in here I couldn't leave him on his own, but when he finally got into the shower at 10.30 I just had to go to bed. I think he's old enough at 14 to put himself to bed sometimes.
I have always leaned towards healthier eating, or so I thought, I tracked perfectly yesterday, stuck to my 29 Pro Points, and it was a real wake up call for me. I realised how, gradually, I was slipping into unhealthy habits, full fat butter, not enough fruit and veg, terrible take away choices. Little wonder my weight was into the 90s (200lb in the old money, which sounds even worse!) I felt the old head stuff happening yesterday but sorted that out. I did feel hungry right before dinner so I got some baby cos lettuce leaves and filled them with salsa for a healthy zero point snack and that worked. I made Spicy Braised Pork out of a very old WW cookbook, but did it in the slow cooker, it was so simple but tasted great, will put it on the food blog later. I just realised though that pointing these recipes is going to be almost impossible without being able to work out the carbs, fibre and fat. As we work out the points of food with the calculator (love you Pat!!) I am writing it into the back of my diary. Emily wanted to count points too, and while being mindful of not wanting the kids to obsess over food and weight, they both need to lose some and are old enough for this to teach them some healthy habits. Emily astounded me yesterday, she decided to have 29 points too and made some great choices, and we talked a lot about healthy eating which I think was a really positive thing. I think it opened her eyes to just how much rubbish she was consuming every day. Josh said "I want in on this points thing too". I can't see any reason why not and I don't think they will stick to counting as such, but it will give them a good yardstick about what they should be eating on any given day. I stocked up on some good stuff yesterday, more low fat yoghurt, some crackers, cheese slices, tuna and fruit. The fruit bowl is happily depleted this morning, which is huge in this house.
My goal is to lose 5kg in five weeks before we go away next month and that is entirely doable. I am up two and three times to the loo, which is normal as my body sheds the fluid which is the early large weight loss that always happens, so I know I'm on the right track.
Today I need to get some work done in the house and finish planning menus for the coming two weeks.
My Valentine perfume arrived the other day and it's my new favourite. It's Womanity by Thierry Mugler, my old favourite was Angel also by him. This new one is heavenly and so fresh. My weakness is good perfume and I'd rather wear none than wear inferior stuff.
Those kittens are going to be big trouble, they are so energetic already while they're feeding. Harley went crazy last night wanting out, she went from one door to another (and we have four) asking to be let out. She had been out in the afternoon and can usually go for a whole day without needing to go to the toilet. She is such a clean girl, won't even use the litter tray unless she's desperate. I was reluctant to let her out at that hour, she went missing once before and I had to feed her kitten with an eye dropper and cat milk. I looked up how soon they can go on heat after a litter and got varying answers and in the end I took the chance and let her out. Not long after I heard her banging on the door so she just must have needed to go to the loo. She came in and happily settled down in bed with the kittens.
Well time to get the boy up for school. He has his first day of sport today (he is NOT a sporty boy) and he has to do basketball and I'm not letting him out of it so it should be interesting how the day pans out.
I've heard a bit about fitness programmes on the Wii and the X box so I'm going to look into that and learn how to use the bloody things.

Such EXCITEMENT in your home. ;0)
It's really about better choices and being aware of what you put in your mouth. When you go to a W.W.Meeting you will find out about extra points you are allowed a week. I am not using them. INSTANT gratification is where I'm at. ;0)
(((hugs)))Pat
Even though I think your perfect just the way you are, if this what you need to do to feel good then I'm all for it! I'm very proud of you! You are a good mommy,a beautiful spirit, and an awesome friend!
Your doing the weight loss with the kids just right! My mom always made food seem like it was a prize, probably why I've had eating problems my whole life, why Ididn't do that to my kids.
I just want you to know how much I admire you and think your great!
Its awesome you are all looking at what you are eating, you are what you eat and all that.
I can highly recommend Wii tennis, it is really fun and addictive, and much easier than real tennis.
