Yum!

We love our Crying Tiger, a Thai beef salad that we first had in the Thai restaurant here (yes we have a Thai restaurant in Coota believe it or not!)  We've made it at home several times with rump steak.  I got the idea to try it with a rib eye steak, our latest favourite bbq meat.  Then we decided it might not work with such a thick cut.  I did a google on Thai beef salads and found one that was a bit different and we ended up making that last night with fillet steaks.  It was wonderful.  The marinade for the steak also doubled as the salad dressing, half was used on the meat and half saved to dress the fresh vegies and herbs.
Seriously, try it
The kids weren't keen but Phill and I polished it off, it was so tasty and we got to use our Thai basil from the garden, and our own mint as well.
Bit of drama with the family get together.  Talked to my second sister (who was the one who set the date) and now they're wanting to put it off till the following week.  There are so many of us that it's pointless trying to find a date that suits everyone, we just needed to name a date and if anyone can't make it, so be it.  I won't be changing my booking and neither will Ali and Matt.  Now I know why it's taken us five years to get together again!  If it ends up just being our family and Ali's I can live with that and so can Ali.
