Kindle Love - *sigh*

I finally took some getting to know my Kindle.  I already loved it, it's just so handy but today I found an app that I downloaded for free that allows me to easily transfer pretty much anything from my pc and the net onto the kindle.  Previously I was sending them via email with an attachment that had to be compatible.  I also learned how to put things into files so I got it all organised and now have a "recipe" folder.  It makes life so much easier to not have to print out a recipe (wasting paper and ink since they invariably get wet/soiled in the kitchen and I throw them out) or taking up space on the bench with my laptop and risking it also getting wet or dirty.  The kindle is small enough to have there but out of the way of danger.  I also discovered there is a web browser on it, which just hooks up to Wi Fi.  Also I just spent a happy evening downloading free books, some of which I normally wouldn't seek out, some novels, some self help type books, and they're all there waiting for me when I'm in the mood to read them.  I am totally hooked and have already put in an order for an updated version for next Christmas.
Phill went to work this afternoon and Josh and I had my Alaskan marinated salmon for dinner with salad and sour dough "Sizzler" bread.  Put some low fat butter on each side then into a hot pan and put some parmesan cheese on the top then turned it over and cooked.  It didn't turn out quite like the Sizzler version but it was okay.  The salmon was divine as always.  Emily had other stuff.
Australia Day tomorrow, we had planned to go to the lake but decided every and and his dog would be there and we might not get our spot.  So we're staying home and bbqing and I'm going to make a pavlova in the shape and colours of the Aussie flag.  This should be good, watch this space.  We have map of Aussie shaped burgers and will get fresh rolls tomorrow and I'm hankering for a rib eye steak.  The kids will make a damper and we'll play some games in the backyard like all good Aussies do on such days.
So much sadness both in Blogland and on the news this past few days, my heart goes out to families who are struggling, and I feel so grateful to have what I have right now.
In particular I'm thinking a lot about little L, if you're so inclined, say a prayer or your equivalent for this darling little boy who isn't well at the moment and for his mother and his dear, dear Nana who means so much to many of us.

You guys have such amazing food. The cooking gene skipped me although I can cook well enough - I love my books but can see how you would enjoy the Kindle
