Cold and Wet on the Murray River

The connection down here is good but I can't seem to upload photos, which is a pity because I took 64 today alone!
We got a bit of a late start yesterday but it was a good run, even with frequent stops to fiddle with the tarp on the boat and eventually take it off altogether and just wrap the luggage in it.  We need a proper boat cover.
We checked into the resort, we have the Woolshed Retreat which from the outside just looks like a corrugated iron woolshed but inside is a large cabin, with three bedrooms, ours has an ensuite, and another bathroom with a big spa bath and separate loo.  We are right on the river, probably twenty metres from the bank with big windows at the front and a lovely covered verandah front and side and a big double carport for the car and boat.  We got takeaway last night, kids got Maccas of course and Phill and I got Indian.  We came back and the others went fishing while I had a very muddy spa.  All water here is river water, there is fresh rainwater in a big bottle thingie with a tap for drinking and cooking etc.  The spa was still nice, I wasn't going to let a bit of muddy water put me off!  Phill, the darling, slept in with Josh, there are four bunks in there, and let me get a good night of sleep.  I slept better than I have in ages, with no ear plugs and no valerian and away from my own bed with a dodgy pillow that didn't smell too good, I had to put Phill's shirt over it.  Needless to say we went out today and bought pillows and pillowcases.  The rest of the bedding seems clean but it's like they forgot to wash to the pillow cases or something.  Only Josh remembered to bring his pillow from home.
Today we got up and had a cooked brekky then went into Echuca and took our trip on the paddle steamer which was just wonderful as always.  We wandered around, the kids went into a kind of "petting zoo" the Americans would call it, with a whole bunch of animals who they cuddled and played with, they'll never grow out of that!  We had a delicious lunch at the fish and chip cafe, Josh chose river red fin, I had flake and Phill had flathead.  We all shared some calamari and Em had oysters.  I don't normally like freshwater fish but the redfin was very good.  I'm hoping they catch something this trip!  We came home and they have gone out on the boat, but it's very cold down here and has been raining on and off all day.  I am glad we have ducted heating in the cabin, although I am sitting out on the deck thinking I could get better net coverage to upload some photos.  It's so lovely sitting here by the beautiful river.  I wish we could stay longer.

Yeah...I use to dread going back to the Rat Race too.
A weekend or a week is not enough time to while away the hours to ones content.
So far it sounds like it's been a very good mini vacation.
That always makes you want MORE.
;0)

Muddy water:0( I'll pass on that one.
